I personally am making a lightning wielding kineticist.
Taking all iteratives, including haste, against touch ac is pretty good, and you can have the build online at level 7 if you go pure air. Grabbing combat reflexes ups your battlefield control by quite a bit. You even gain another iterative at level 8, meaning your basic blast is tripled during a full attack. At level 8, that's 12d6 + 1/2 con VS touch AC.

I'm looking for some ideas on making one. I'm curious as to the builds everyone is making. I need inspiration
Mine is a 'rogue' telekineticist with Vagabond Child (Urban) for Disable Device as a class feature. She will branch out into earth and then air (air blast) which will open me up for the sandstorm composite. She is entirely blast focused (no melee/blade build) with a strong emphasis on battlefield and area control. It'll start with pushing, bowling, and foe throw, then move to adding grappling and entangling to walls, clouds, and deadly earths. It sacrifices damage but it'll pin down foes or force them to funnel their movement.
At will telekinesis, invisibility, sudo flying, and then earth glide will make her the ultimate unseen threat.

My first is a 'monk' who prefers to get up and close and punch things with the power of water and lightning. (Not actually an elemental ascetic, just a kinetic blade build.)
My second will be a 'black knight' who wears heavy armor and wields a sword made of pure shadow. (Void kineticist this time.)

Kinetic Blade/Whip?

Mine is similar to Texas's
Sylph "Rogue" who thinks his powers are coming from his race as opposed to some class. He started as an Aetherialist who used "Wind" to move things, and lived on the streets using his racial skills to survive. When corralled into joining a group to save the city, he turned his survival skills into skills to overcome adversity (Traps, Locks, Etc).
His build is pretty simple:
16/16/16/7/10/11 (16 Intelligence, 7 Strength has a ton of skill points). Started at 2nd level with a Mule Cords item.
Moved to Air at 7th level, started shooting lightning from his hands and much better flight.
Moved to Water at 15th level, gets permanent concealment at 16th level from Shimmering Mirage, so can hide at-will. Has +15 Greater Shadow Mithral Chainshirt, +4 Racial bonus to stealth, +3 Class skill, +16 from skill points, +10 from a Dex:30 for a total of +48 Stealth (plus Aetheric Invisibility), and lives off the Sniping rules.
Has a +36 Disable Device and +35 Sleight of Hand bonus, which with my Trap Finder Trait, makes me better than most Rogues at everything except detecting/finding traps (but we have someone else that covers that in the group :P)

I haven't made a kineticist yet, but I've been looking at some of the material.
Does the following make anyone else's inner 13 year old giggle?
"Flame Jet
Element(s) fire; Type utility (Sp); Level 3; Burn 0
You shoot a burst of flame behind you as a standard action, propelling you up to 60 feet in a straight line, including into the air; any movement upward costs double. If you end your turn mid-air, you fall on your next turn unless you use flame jet again."
Because I am getting a definite mental picture of what using this would look like as a real scene you were observing.
Please tell me it has a sound effect.

Never saw that before. But I was thinking about someone moving across the sky in staccato "jumps."
Kind of like a personal version of Project Orion.

I had one player do Monk 1 / Earth Kineticist X with Kinetic Fist to great effect. His damage was high, defenses were strong (that DR O.O), and he was even good at skills. I'm playing with a Water Kineticist now who's taking Kinetic Whip and Combat Reflexes to control the battlefield, has Kinetic Healer to support, will have huuuuge reach, and has more HP than everyone else even with the Burn.
I personally made a Telekinetic character with the Rogue VMC focusing on Stealth and high skills. Being able to block Echolocation is a huge deal, and with a couple scrolls you're almost undetectable.

Dwarven Geokineticist that branches out into Fire and Aether. He begins play using Kinetic Blade to form an earthen hammer with which to bash his foes in the face. At 7th level he picks up Magma Blast and begins to melt face. He becomes mightier and is able to wield his earthen Dwarven Longhammer at 9th level single-handed! Earthglide at 10th. At 12th he takes Kinetic Form to become a magma elemental. At 15th level he takes Extra Wild Talent and learns how to wrap himself in Aether, and the strength of his great magma hammer becomes legendary as the Aether helps coalesce the magma into a more stable form without losing its heat or durability.
Fear his war cry, for it is said his hammer steals the light and life from the room as he brings it crashing down in a mighty swing on his foes heads.
His foes name him barbarian, to his town he is a simple smith, and to his family of 8, father. Ambdurren Montardge adventures to provide gold and groceries to a family that can no longer get by on his blacksmithing talent alone, and to make sure those little goblin pests stay off his lawn.
