Oracle / Unchained Rogue for Arcane Trickster build?

Advice

Liberty's Edge

Salutations.

I was wanting to do an Arcane Trickster build, but I was wondering if it could be done using Oracle instead of Sorcerer and Unchained Rogue versus normal Rogue.

My reasoning:
- Depending on which Mystery you pick, Oracles do get their hands on 2nd-Level Arcane spells as bonus spells. Example; Flame Mystery giving you Resist Energy and Fireball.
- Depending on which Curse you pick, Oracles do get Mage Hand.
- Unchained Rogues are better than normal Rogues, aside from having a more limited selection of Rogue Talents.
- Oracles get more hit points and skill points per level than Sorcerers, and they can cast Cure/Inflict spells.

The prerequisites for Arcane Trickster;
- Must be able to cast Mage Hand
- Must be able to cast a 2nd-Level Arcane Spell
- Must do 2d6 or greater Sneak Attack damage (do Unchained Sneak Attacks count?)
- Must have at least four ranks in each of the following skills: Escape Artist, Disable Device, and Knowledge Arcana.

Would I be able to get away with such a build, particularly within PFS rules?

A spell is arcane or divine based on the casting class it's from- it's not specific to the spell. You'll notice that nobody's been rolling arcane spell failure chance on those spells. So no, you don't meet the qualifications with Oracle.

Interestingly, the arcane trickster can advance any spellcasting class, including a divine. So hypothetically, you could play a wizard 3 / cleric 1 / rogue 1 (with the accomplished sneak attacker feat), then have AT advance your cleric levels.

It used to be the case that (e.g.) the Aasimar's Daylight ability qualified as "casting 2nd level arcane spells", but due to errata this no longer works.

But, well, an oracle has only 1 more HP per level than a sorc, so to compensate for that just take the Toughness feat. If you want more skill points, go for wizard instead of sorc.

The Prestige classes all need to be updated to account for all of the new stuff that has been added to the game. In fact, why don't any Prestige classes have archetypes?

In my home games, I would definitely allow an Oracle-based Arcane Trickster build.

Within PFS rules, no, the Oracle simply doesn't cast arcane spells. As QuidEst pointed out, any spell cast by an oracle is automatically a divine spell (just like clerics, druids, etc).

As for Unchained Rogue, yes, that part is perfectly fine. Also check out the new feat from Heroes of the Streets (name escapes me and I don't have time to go search for it) that allows you to add +1d6 sneak attack, so you only really need 1 level of rogue.

I do not believe Heroes of the Streets or Dirty Tactics Toolbox are allowed for PFS yet, and I think they recently banned the creation of new Kitsune characters. Which sucks because I wanted to try out the Wrecking Mysticism curse.

the books were added and Accomplished sneak attacker feat is allowed

and you can still make a Kitsune

Oracles cast Divine spells; just because an Oracle is casting spells usually only seen on Arcane lists doesn't mean that they are cast as Arcane.

So, at minimum you need Wizard/Sorceror/Witch 3 in your build (I wonder if any can get sneak Attack somehow).

Now because Arcane Trickster doesn't specify Arcane, you can advance your Oracle spell levels with your Prestiege Class

Can I make a suggestion? with Accomplished Sneak Attacker you could use a Nature Fang for a full level Divine caster with entry at level 8. 3 levels of Spirit Whisperer gives access to Spirits, which has simular flavor to Mysterys.
