Pool Strike (Su)

Benefit: The magus can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a standard action to charge his free hand with energy. He can make a melee touch attack with that hand as a free action as part of activating this ability. If the touch attack hits, it releases the charge and deals 2d6 points of energy damage (acid, cold, electricity, or fire, chosen when he spends the arcane pool point to activate this ability). He can use this ability with the spellstrike class feature. If he misses with this attack, he can hold the charge for up to 1 minute before it dissipates. At 6th level, and every three levels thereafter, the amount of damage dealt by this attack increases by 1d6.
Conductive wrote:
A conductive weapon is able to channel the energy of a spell-like or supernatural ability that relies on a melee or ranged touch attack to hit its target (such as from a cleric's domain granted power, sorcerer's bloodline power, oracle's mystery revelation, or wizard's arcane school power). When the wielder makes a successful attack of the appropriate type, he may choose to expend two uses of his magical ability to channel it through the weapon to the struck opponent, which suffers the effects of both the weapon attack and the special ability. (If the wielder has unlimited uses of a special ability, she may channel through the weapon every round.) For example, a paladin who strikes an undead opponent with her conductive greatsword can expend two uses of her lay on hands ability (a supernatural melee touch attack) to deal both greatsword damage and damage from one use of lay on hands. This weapon special ability can only be used once per round, and only works with magical abilities of the same type as the weapon (melee or ranged).

Basically, my question is simple. Can A magus who is wielding a weapon with the conductive property deliver both a spell and a pool strike as part of the same attack?

Yup, the ability clearly states it works with spellstrike. This should work just fine.

Ah, that's not in question. What I'm questioning is if pool strike works with conductive, and can be combined with the regular function of spellstrike. If it does, then it means that you can, in a single hit, deal weapon damage, shocking grasp damage, AND pool strike damage.

In fact, you raise an odd question for me. Can the magus with a conductive weapon apply double pool strike to a single attack?

Silver Crusade

Actually you would and precedent enforces it as well. With Conductive it even gives an example with the paladin. As seen its a non-action to add an effect to an attack but requires you expend twice as many uses if it is a times per day effect. As long as the attack is of the same type as the effect you may use it. It limits you to once per round to prevent the player from spamming multiple possible spell-like or SU abilities on every attack.

Yes, you can combine all those effects.

You cannot add pool strike twice because the conductive ability can only be used once per round, and I'm pretty sure you can't stack them either way (otherwise you could just sit there for a minute and burn all your points for one super attack).

Silver Crusade

Well he could it Just would be

1) Pool Strike with normal Ability
2) Use Spell Strike Ability with Pool Strike
3) Swing
4) If Hit Spend 2 MORE arcane Pool points to unleash a different Pool Strike with Conductive.

Yeah, what Endoralis said. Since pool strike can by itself be used with spell strike, and pool strike separately qualifies for use with conductive, my logic is that you can use spellstrike and conductive to separately apply two instances of pool strike damage.

I mean it's hell on your resources, but it seems like an interesting concept. I might build a gnome magus on this concept, since they can select "conductive" to add to their list of enchantments available to add to the weapon. It seems higher in burst but lower ease of maintaining this burst.

Hmm, I can definitely see the confusion.

Let's go ahead and add it to the list of never going to be answered questions for Paizo.

Why not get even more nova-y? Get yourself a keen, conductive, spell storing weapon to drop two critical shocking grasps and a pool strike all in one hit.
