Scarab Sages

Ok, the avatar to the left has my statblock for this level 6 kensai magus whip trip build.

I have approx 41k gps to spend or save. I also have 22 prestige points.
My initial thought was to upgrade my cloak of resistance to a +2, replace my potion of water breathing that I used, and upscale my emergency potion of cure light wounds to a potion of cure serious wounds.

But I thought I'd check to see if you guys have any other recommendations.

I also feel like I should expand my spellbook, but not sure what to get.

You need to list what you have so far. In addition - why did you save up to 41k? I don't think that my level 7 PFS has ever had more than 7k saved at any given time.

By 6 you should have -

+2 armor
+2 weapon
+1 RoP
+1 AoNA
+2 Cloak
Jingasa
+1 AC ioun in wayfinder
+2 primary stat item

As a Kensai - you'll likely want both Int & Str stat items and if you have a Mage Armor trick, then you don't need to worry about armor yet.

Assuming both stat items and +2 bracers of armor, that's a total of 38.25k. I'm assuming that you already have at least lesser versions of some of those, so it won't actually run nearly that much.

Utility potions and scrolls are handy too. I'm not sure I'd bother with a potion of cure serious though. In combat you'd likely be better off casting a spell rather than sucking a potion, and OOC you use CLW wands. A basic potion is handy to save lives, but beyond that it's probably not worth it.

Sorry sorry, typo. That is only 4.1k gps.
Click on the avatar, it has all his gear.

I'm not to worried about the weapon bonus. Arcane pool is almost always giving him another +2 to the weapon.

His AC is lousy, but he usually is at 15' reach and trips/disarms anything close.

Don't have the mage armor trick, so been considering a wand of mage armor and/or shield.

Forgot about the jingasa, thanks for the reminder

Yeah - your AC is really bad for level 6. It's only mediocre for level 1.

A wand of Mage Armor purchased with prestige (if you can get someone to cast it on you consistently) a ring of prot, and a AoNA will get you up to 23 - which is decent for level 6, though nothing to write home about.

Shield actually is on the magus spell list, but I wouldn't recommend a wand of it. With a duration of only 1min, that isn't long enough to really be an out of combat buff unless you know you're about to start something. (uncommon) It'd be a good thing to consider for your own spell list though, as at 6min, it'll last for a couple of encounters and bump your AC to 27, which is then pretty respectable. (level 1 pearls of power are sometimes a good buy for a magus as their level 1s are their bread & butter)

Whew. I was looking over my chronicle sheets trying to figure out what I was missing to get close to 41k at 6th. :)

I really like Spell Storing armor with Frigid Touch (3k more for you.) This basically lets you turn one full attack against you per fight into a single attack by staggering the enemy after their first attack (plus some damage.)
