Boosting Profession

Advice

2 people marked this as a favorite.

So, I saw the Asmodean Advocate archetype, and I am in love. Like, seriously, I'd get to play a lawyer, and a damned effective one at that.

Now, I'm wondering, how can I make the most out of this? I'm in particular looking for ways of boosting my Profession (Barrister) skill, but any suggestions would be welcome.

What I'm looking at so far:

> Brevoy Bandit trait (Lets you add another stat in addition to Wisdom to Profession - not a trait bonus)
> Devil in the Details (Asmodean Advocate - Cleric archetype, adds +1/2 level as insight bonus to Profession (Barrister))
> Heart of the Fields (Human, adds +1/2 level as racial bonus to a Profession skill)
> Love Lost (+2 Trait bonus to a Profession skill)
> Masterwork Tool (+2 circumstance bonus)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Of course, since the Asmodean Advocate lets you use your Profession (Barrister) in place of Diplomacy and Bluff, picking up Power of Suggestion as a trait would be particularly nasty as a person writing legal documents..

Grand Lodge

Be an elf, gnome or dwarf and pick up Breadth of Experience feat, though Heart of the Fields and human would be a better boost to that one skill.

Don't forget skill focus!

How could I leave out skill focus? The poor thing must be crying in a corner, somewhere.

Revised:

Spoiler:
Brevoy Bandit +2 (Con)
Class Skill: +3
Devil in the Details: +1 (Insight)
Heart of the Fields: +1 (Racial)
Love Lost: +2 (Trait)
MW Tool: +2 (Circumstance)
Skill Focus: +3 (Untyped)
Skill Ranks: +1
Wisdom Modifier: +4

= Total of +19 to Profession (Barrister), and indirectly, Diplomacy & Bluff, at level 1. Seems pretty handy. You beat the DC on Power of Suggestion every time, if your GM runs with the trait as written.

At level 20:

Spoiler:
Brevoy Bandit: +4 (Con)
Class Skill: +3
Cracked Ioun Stone +1 (Competence)
Devil in the Details: +10 (Insight)
Heart of the Fields: +10 (Racial)
Love Lost: +2 (Trait)
MW Tool: +2 (Circumstance)
Skill Focus (Focused Study): +6
Skill Ranks: +20 (Untyped)
Wisdom Modifier: +12 (18 Start, +5 level, +5 inherent, +6 headband = 34)

= +70 to Profession (Barrister) at level 20. Or, indirectly, +70 to Diplomacy and Bluff - though it seems a bit low for what one would expect at such a high level, given that I have seen scores up in the +100s when it comes to boosting diplomacy all by itself.

Anything obvious that I'm missing out on, here?
