If I make an order that includes stuff that doesn't meet the criteria for this sale, and stuff that does, what will happen? I can envision three possibilities:
1. The order gets stuck in limbo.
2. The order gets split into two - one with the "okay for the sale" stuff, and one with the other stuff
3. The order goes through as is, I just don't get the discount on the stuff that doesn't qualify.
Of course, it's possible there are more possibilities. :-)

Your 3rd option is what will happen. If you place an order and put the summer sale code on it only the items that qualify will be discounted. The rest will not. but the order should not be split up. Purchasing items that are on backorder, preorder, or otherwise not available right now could cause the order to be split up however so if that item in question doesn't qualify for those reasons the order being split is a possibility.
