Druid exclusivity on wildshape?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So we have A LOT of archetypes that "steal" this ability or that from another class. Just about everythinf I think can be found on another archetype or prestige class.

Everything that is except Wildshape.

So why do you guys think druids are the only wildshapers... or really one of the only shapechangers that dont depend on spells to change?

Feral Hunters and Totemic Skalds say hi!

Like Pounce said, there are a few archetypes here and there that do grant wildshape. Why isn't it more prevalent, though? I think more than anything else, the ability to be so in one with nature that you can assume the forms of beasts, elementals, and plants, is such an iconic ability for druids. They're not just nature activists or people that know how to survive well. Druids personify nature, and all that it represents. At least, that's how it's always seemed to me!

Hey, aside from wildshape, druids only have full 9-level casting, spontaneous summons, animal companions, good saving throws, and a few minor superpowers like poison immunity. If you start giving wildshape to other classes, why would anyone want to play a druid?

Scarab Sages

There are also some oracles that get nifty shapechange revelations, although the duration is a lot less than wild shape.

But at least they have 9th level casting and other awesome class features to fall back on.
