Found quite an interesting feat for the mindblade magus.

Fortified Armor Training.

Basically, when an opponent confirms a critical hit against you, you can turn that critical hit into a regular hit by applying the broken condition to either your armor or your shield.

Guess what the mindblade magus can have an ample supply of?

I have no idea if it's very good, but it's definitely an interesting option.

Can a Mindblade's weapon have the broken condition?

Nothing says it cant in the special rules for mindblades so go to the normal rules for weapons and armor and there it says we can.

looking through it though...

You have to manifest two weapons (one being a shield)... can you do that before level 7? I thought you could before but the level 7 ability says that is the first point you can from what i remember. I dont have my book here unfortunately so i cant confirm.

If you use a mindblade shield it is broken on using the feat, a free action to dismiss it and either a standard or a swift to bring it back.

Once its a swift action it becomes a more valid choice i suppose but you are giving up a lot of offense and feats to specialized in TWF with a shield on a 3/4 chassis.

How does this compare against just wearing a buckler on your off hand and not using it for the shield AC, a sacrificial slot to convert a crit 1/fight.

Yeah, it definitely feels awkward to use when I consider it. However, the idea of using this method to almost become immune to critical hits is, to me, pretty funny.

However, I rate it as "neat trick. next."

Glad to see some out of the box thinking for Mindblades though, they are very interesting (i've always been a sucker for the soulknife kinds of classes anyways)

Tell me, after investing in TWF enough stat and feat wise, would you go on to THF at level 13? Switch between TWF and reach weapons?

The mindblade build I have involves focusing on TWF and leaving room for making use of all the other choices. For example, once I hit level 13, at any time I could manifest a reach/trip weapon and use spell combat to cast true strike, true strike a trip, and suddenly the rest of my iterative attacks are against a prone guy. Then he'd have to provoke in order to stand up.

It sounds nice but the two handed stuff comes online at such a late level... i am actually trying hard to not think about it since it is almost a pipe dream to get up to those levels.

I am most excited right now at the idea of TWF with some kukri or daggers with Magic Missile spell combat and Hammer the Gap. Any extra feats go towards Extra Arcane Pool and burn through Arcane Accuracy and/or accurate strike. (does River Rat only apply to daggers or to any dagger like weapon you think?)

Has anything stood out to you on the psychic spell list so far?

Scarab Sages

As I said n the rules thread, Magic Missiles do not count as hits for hammer the gap. River Rat applies to daggers only, not all dagger-like weapons.

I concede the point on daggers, really it was more wishful thinking than anything else, but i stand by the counter point as posted in that thread. If struck by a magic missile than the subject suffered a hit. The inability to critical due to lack of attack role doesnt change my mind on the matter.
