Redeeming Corrupted Blessings

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hi everyone,
My group puzzled me today when we got our first chances to redeem cards with the corrupted trait.
Rather than select one in the redemption list, they decided to redeem a corrupted blessing, then another one after the next scenario.
It actually makes some sense for powers like Kyra or to minimize the chances to have a corruptd blessing on top of thye blessing deck.
But more than anything else, it was for pure thematic crusade: hurting the evil gods is better than just min maxing a weapon.

So the question is: are we allowed to do that?
After all, blessings are cards with the corrupted trait...

Didn't see that one coming but I have a fantastic wife playing Kyra and a great daughter playing Enora so I have a haérd time arguing.

I've wondered that too. I think not, because they aren't listed on the redemption card. But nothing in the rules seems to say you can't.

Blessings of tainted Dieties are not yours to manipulate :)

Redeeming a card entails checking it off on the Redemption card. If a card isn't on the redemption card, you can't redeem it. So, no blessings for you.

Shax has no interest in your so-called "Redemption card."

Skizzerz is right. You don't redeem a card by saying "OK it's redeemed". You do it by checking it off the Redemption card. You can't check it off the Redemption card because it isn't there, so you can't redeem them.

As was discussed in another thread, essentially redeeming an object is one thing. Redeeming a being of godly power? Good luck, even as a mythic hero.

Fully agree with that "by the book" ruling. Now i have to explain that to my own set of evil deities...

Thematically, you might be able to redeem a weapon with a special forge and some holy water, but how do you redeem a corrupted Blessing? Presumably you'd need to redeem the deity itself - which could make for an awesome scenario around adventure six - cultist henchmen, then Baphomet or Deskari as the villain, requiring some mighty Divine and Diplomacy checks!

It'd be after Adventure 6, more than likely.

In the RPG:
Destroying Deskari and/or redeeming Nocticula are suggested ways to continue the campaign after dealing successfully with the Worldwound.

Well then my group found another way to battle evil corrupted deities: Except for Kyra, all blessing they keep in their decks are corrupted and we never remove BoA from the game, and we tend to select blessings for card feats. With a 6 players team, that means the blessing deck ends up pretty much totally uncorrupted.
Which must really upset Deskari and the others, cause many bad things are avoided.

Although with Deskari and Baphomet, sometimes you want the top card to be corrupted.

On the plus side, it must make deciding on cohorts in 3-5 easier.
