Advice for character stuck in between EotT parts

Hey all!

So I need some advice. I have a lvl 12.2 Barbarian that I was able to run through EotT part 1. Unfortunately the table fell apart and never progressed through the rest of the parts. Then I moved to another state. It has now been well over a year since part 1. I would really like to move this character forward though.

Options that I see available to me IF I can find a group of players with lvl12+ characters
1) Find a new group that is willing to take me on for parts 2 to the end. I get to complete the series but I loose some table cohesiveness since I didn't survive part 1 with them.
2) Abandon EotT and find a table playing a module that a lvl 12 character can play in. I am now stuck with a character at lvl 12.2 but I get to continue playing him. I can then utilize a GM star replay to bring my soon to hit lvl 12 Bloatmage into an EotT table (If I find one and upon GM approval).

Any advice on what I should do?

The only thing that I can think of is to talk to the VC of your old area, new area, or both.

Getting a cool table for the whole eyes of the ten and burning a star would be my choice!

The first one. According to the Guide once you start Eyes you cannot use that character for anything else until you finish the series.

You can't play the scenario again with the same PC, though. We had an issue like this, where someone played part 1 with one group and parts 2-4 with another. If you have another PC you want to (eventually) play through Eyes with, then have this guy play in modules, and re-play Eyes of the Ten with the new PC (using your GM star to replay the first part).

If you live in Central Indiana, then I can look into get such a table set up. Although only one part will be run each month.

Unless I'm mistaken, can't you play a scenario over for no credit?

Only if it is needed to make a table and only with GM approval.

Which character would you rather play? I didn't run my first character to 12 through Eyes, since I really loved my 5th one.

I really don't see a problem with you ghosting part 1, this is such a limited play experience that it won't hurt things.

Though I'd probably go with the replay star and use the bloatmage.

The new Seeker stuff coming out soon™ sounds like it won't be as level strict as EotT as well.

How do you feel about playing online?

I am open to the idea. I haven't played in an online tabletop in over a year but I have done a few games online before Ironhelixx became the VC, back when it was just a google group. I am now just getting into PbP as an alternative for high lvl play since my current in person location is mostly lower lvl runs.

I would recommend burning a star and playing at a table with other players you have a relationship with.

Eyes isn't just for your character, it's an out-of-character experience and bonding moment between players. Things are revealed and surprise encounters are thrown to the players as much as their characters. I probably wouldn't encourage doing it online, as you lose that personal feeling of camaraderie.

If that's not something you're in to, then online would probably be the most feasible for just pulling off a game. You could even play your original character that way, just jumping in for sessions 2-4.

Burning a star won't help, as he's already played part 1 on this character.

Yes.

I was confirming what the OP had suggested initially, burning a star to replay part 1 with his Bloatmage.

Hence why my last line went back to talking about his Barbarian.

Just figured I'd say this is not at all accurate. While you might not start with that sense of camaraderie, after those four parts and the developments they contain, that sense of camaraderie will certainly develop, because they're in it until the end, just like you.

I played through Eyes online, and I can honestly say it was one of the high points of PFS for me, though it helps that we had an awesome group. Our paladin's reaction to the [REDACTED] was pretty great. It was also pretty nice since there were only four of us, and there were no arcane casters (well, there was the paladin) and nobody was throwing down any SoS spells. It made for a harder experience, but was worth it. And, to the party I played through Eyes with (you know who you are): thanks again for helping out with the true res.

To each their own.

I personally view online play as an alternative for people that can't game in person.

While I recommend not doing Eyes online, I recognize the OP's situation, and realize it might be the only backup option.

Fair enough. Though, I know of a handful of areas where high-level play is but a myth, and only play is the only option.

My online playthrough of Eyes was a dull, boring travesty. It was only made worse by the fact that I had been spoiled on the story by sitting in on my wife's playthrough, so I knew what we were missing.

My online run of Eyes was an exciting, hilarious romp through danger and heartache. We still get together for high-level modules and regular scenarios with their non-Seeker characters.

I look forward to possibly participating in another table or two of Eyes here locally in Phoenix once our community has enough players with fresh Seekers to undertake it.

For Lab_Rat, I recommend finding a crew that will take you on for the last three parts. Don't leave a character orphaned at part one unless you plan on GMing Eyes and applying the credit to them later. (It sounds like you'll be lucky to get one more table, let alone two.)
