Mindblade magus and spell combat with two-handed weapons.

This is a question regarding the new mindblade magus archetype. I'm a little unsure about the wording.

Quote:

Dual Weapons (Su): At 7th level, a mindblade can

maintain two psychic weapons at a time or a psychic
double weapon, though each weapon (or each end of a
double weapon) has an enhancement bonus 1 lower than
normal. Starting at 12th level, each of the two psychic
weapons (or each end of a double weapon) instead has an
enhancement bonus 2 lower than normal. When using
two-weapon fighting with two psychic weapons or a
psychic double weapon, the mindblade can use her spell
combat ability as though she had a hand free. This ability
replaces medium armor

I can basically see two interpretations.

First interpretation, the ability to act as if one hand is free for spell combat is listed after a "starting at 12th level" clause, therefore you don't get that feature until level 12.

Second interpretation, the "starting at 12th level" clause is a separate thought and meant to extend upon the idea of the enhancement bonus being lowered, and the rest of the ability reads as if an extension of the "at 7th level" part of the main ability.

I'm actually very unsure which one it is. What do you guys think? Two-handed spell combat at 7 or 12?

EDIT: Actually, now that I look at it, the ability states "maintain", but is this the same as "manifest"? So at level 7 am I now allowed by the text of this ability to manifest two weapons or a double weapon from the single standard action?

You don't get the ability to use Spell Combat with a two-handed weapon until 13th level.

Dual Manifest (Su): At 13th level, a mindblade can manifest two psychic weapons with the same action. She must pay the cost for both weapons. Also, when wielding a weapon two-handed, she can use her spell combat ability as though she had a hand free. This ability replaces heavy armor.

The Dual Weapons ability that you quoted actually applies to two weapon fighting (with two separate weapons or one double weapon used like two weapons) rather than two-handed fighting. You can use Spell Combat with those options at 7th level.

So you can use Spell Combat with a rapier at 1st level, with a pair of daggers or a quarterstaff (used as two weapons) at 7th level, and a longspear at 13th level.

The "at 12th level" phrase simply refers to the enhancement bonus. At 12th level the enhancement bonus for a one-handed weapon increases to +5. Changing the penalty for two weapon from -1 to -2 just keeps their maximum enhancement at +3.

Sucks that I can't channel magic through a greatsword I created out of my mind until 13th level... Kind of knocks the enthusiasm out of a character build when something that simple comes online so late.
