Hey folks,
I have a question / verification request on end-of-scenario rewards involving cards.
My understanding is if the end-or-scenario reward states, "Each character DRAWS {x} random card from the box", this means to draw the random card from the box and evaluate if you want to add it to that characters allotment of cards. If you don't feel it is any better than the cards already in the character's deck, you put it back into the box. You don't get anything new that scenario. correct?
However, if it states, "Each character GAINS {x} card...", does this mean that you add it to your character's deck and your "health" or "HP" just basically went up one point?

The only time your deck grows this way is when you get a Card feat, and get to have another card of a certain type. Every other time you get a specific card, like a Loot card, if you keep it, it will replace a card of that type in your deck.

You can't keep more cards in your deck unless you get a card feat. So even if a reward say "Gain the loot Sihedron Medallion" that card still counts against your allotted cards of that type (items, in the case of my example). Card feats are the only way to grow the size of your character deck.
But you already knew that because First World Bard beat me to it.

In RotR, the only rewards you "gained" were feats; non-loot card rewards were "drawn."
In S&S, we lost that distinction, and "gain" was applied to many different rewards.
In Wrath, we returned to the RotR template, but only after Wardstone Patrol and The Traitor's Lodge in B were done the S&S way.
From here on, "gain" should be used when you're checking a box on a card (whether that's a feat on a character card, a medal on a troop card, or a ship on a fleet card) and "draw" should be used when you're getting a card from the box.
