Dodging Panache and Dimensional slide

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

Hey! So I'm building a swashbuckler arcanist for my campaign and I was wondering if these two abilities could be used together.

Dimensional Slide
The arcanist can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir to create a dimensional crack that she can step through to reach another location. This ability is used as part of a move action or withdraw action, allowing her to move up to 10 feet per arcanist level to any location she can see. This counts as 5 feet of movement. She can only use this ability once per round. She does not provoke attacks of opportunity when moving in this way, but any other movement she attempts as part of her move action provokes as normal.

Dodging Panache
Dodging Panache (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet; doing so grants the swashbuckler a dodge bonus to AC equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 0) against the triggering attack. This movement doesn't negate the attack, which is still resolved as if the swashbuckler had not moved from the original square. This movement is not a 5-foot step; it provokes attacks of opportunity from creatures other than the one who triggered this deed. The swashbuckler can only perform this deed while wearing light or no armor, and while carrying no heavier than a light load.

Thanks Bunches

Unfortunately they can't RAW. The movement from Dodging Panache is not specifically a move action or a withdraw action, it is simply moving 5 feet.

If you are the DM you can rule it differently or you could always ask your DM to allow them to work.

Possible but not overly useful.

If you use Dimensional slide to get into a position to attack it does not provoke an attack of opportunity. and Dodging Panache only activates when an attack is made against you.

So in your turn you could move an provoke an AOO but could not use Dimensional Slide as it would not provoke the AOO

or in the enemy's turn if you were attacked you could use Dodging Panache but not use Dimensional slide as it requires a move action.

The only way to really make it work would be to Dimensional slide near someone ( to a non threatened space) then provoke an AOO by the "ordinary" part of your move through a threatened space and then activate Dodging Panache.

You would not get any protection from The Dimensional Slide though.

Shadow Lodge

Absolutely not.

Dimensional Slide can only occur during a move action or a withdraw action. Dodging Panache does not grant a move action or a withdraw action.

its an action that causes movement but it is not a (move action) as the game defines it.
