Rotrl battle maps

Advice

I need help on what to do for rotrl battle maps.

Can I buy the map folio?

Do I need to draw my own?

If you could get back quickly I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

The map folio doesn't help: It's all drawn on a grid paper (1/4" squares) scale or smaller. You'll need to draw your own.

Check out this THREAD in the Pathfinder Adventure Path / Rise of the Runelords sub forum.

The thread has a number of great maps people have put together that you could possibly print out or use for reference for drawing them up.

While you are out it check out the rest of the forum for advice and suggestion on running this great adventure path.

Does the map folio maps have all of the gm secrets on them?

How are you supposed to draw the humongous things?

Yes, the map folio has secret doors and traps marked on the pieces with grids. They're handy for the GM but not intended for the players to view. There ARE a couple of larger fold-out maps that are nice, one of Sandpoint and one of Varisia, that are good for showing the players. There's a decent overview of Magnimar and one for Xin-Shalast but they're shrunk down on to one page each so they're only really good as a general reference rather than something you'd want to hang on the wall like some of the later map folios.

For actual battle-maps, I'd recommend using a blank side of a flip-mat or getting one of those large Chessex mats and making sketches before the game.

For some of the areas, especially in Book 6, you have to pick part of the room to draw and let everyone imagine the rest while hoping the combat doesn't head toward the undrawn areas. I have a 3' x 6' battle mat table and still some rooms didn't fit on it. It's is a little frustrating, but not a big deal in the end.

Do you know what brand they were?
