Discard more than one Blessings of the Gods to explore in a turn?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I think I know the answer to this one but I'm not entirely sure.

If I had to guess I would say no, as it falls under theyou can only 1 card per turn from each category.

Is this wrong below?

Example:

I take my free exploration.
I used Blessing of the Gods to explore a second time.
I use another Blessings of the Gods to explore a third time.

Thanks and sorry for the newbie question! This is only my second game.

What you describe is legal. There is no rule that says you can only play one card per type during your turn. The rule is each player may only play one card per type during each step of encountering a card.

For example, if you encounter a monster and the monster deals damage to you before you act, you could play an armor to absorb that damage. If you then fail to defeat the monster and suffer combat damage, you could play another armor to absorb that damage. If the monster then deals damage to you after you act, you could play a third armor for that damage.

... but you could not play 3 armors to absorb the combat damage (unless the card says otherwise, like a shield)

Ah hah!

Thanks that makes perfect sense. Looks like I'll be doing a bit more exploration in my third game!

One other foolish question...

I come across a Collapsed Ceiling.

The Ranger reveals his crowbar adding 1 to his check.

If he fails this check can he then discard the Crowbar to roll the additional die or does it have to be decided before he rolls initially.

You have to decide before you roll; after you've rolled, you can't modify the roll except with reroll powers, or powers that explicitly let you alter a roll already made (for example, "if you would fail a check by 4 or less, bury this card to succeed instead.")

One more question and then I'll give it a rest... sorry!

Party encountered a Large Chest.

Lem failed to open the chest but the card states. You "may" banish this card.

Does that mean I can leave the card face up for the next player for them to take a shot at it and does that count as the free exploration to do so?

Undefeated Barriers are shuffled back in unless they say otherwise. (Same as a Monster.)

Barriers whose text leaves them next to the Location are encountered before any other cards in the Location. Generally you use your free exploration for that, but if somehow there's more than one and you have extra explores, you can pick the order.

No need to apologize, Lucidious. Lots of folks here like to help out players with questions.

However, there is also a FAQ section for each of the games (the Runelords one is here) which you could try. Those are usually the questions which were asked by many of the people who answer questions now :)

In particular, if you are playing Rise of the Runelords, the first entry "I'm just generally unclear about a lot of things. Can you help?" is a very good one to read. I believe it was included in later rulebooks. I'd also skim the rest of the FAQ to know which cards have eratta/corrected wording, and other things that seem unclear.

You might also find this guide helpful. Good luck on your adventure, and don't hesitate to ask questions along the way. Anyone not asking any questions is either a designer or probably playing wrong.

No need to apologize, we're always looking up rules. I've found, though, that a google search will give me the answer I'm looking for 4 times out of 5 without the need to post.

Hey all ! I have another newbie question I need help with!

When it comes to the spell Lightning Touch it states that to acquire it you need an Intelligence/Arcane 4.

Does that mean if I am playing Lem I would roll my Intelligence (d6) and NOT my Charisma/Arcane skill which is a (d10+1) to acquire the spell?

Thanks ahead of time.

You choose from the two options presented. So Lem would be wise to choose Arcane, which for him means Charisma +1.

Intelligence / Arcane just means you can use either of them. Not that you specifically can only use Arcane if it's Intelligence based.
