Gestalt Campaign with Unique Elements, PCs Wanted

This campaign is going to get crazy. It's going to be humorous, and then dark, and then inspiring... and then really dark. But who's to say that isn't a good thing?

I currently have too many ideas to ever get through with my current roleplaying group, mostly due to time constraints... so I decided to reach out a little. Going for a maximum group of 5 players (including myself, mind you), and the medium of the roleplay being skype messaging, which I've had excellent experiences with. We will roleplay whenever we can get the group together to do stuff. My timezone is Mountain Time Zone.

This campaign will have it's own unique lore, some new game mechanics and aspects (including two new elements), and a unique setting.

The characters will start out at level 1, and will level up pretty quickly at first (because I like throwing strong monsters at the PCs and I can't really do that when they're weaklings), all the way to level 20. As it says in the title, the characters will be gestalt (If you don't know what that is, I can link you a general guide). 3rd party classes and feats and the like are fine with me, but run them by me first, please. I'm pretty lax about character origins and backstories and stuff, as long as I can work them into the general lore and such (which, there is a LOT of and it's pretty flexible so yeah).

Your characters can be any alignment, but I expect you to stick with the alignment you pick unless something substantial happens during the campaign to change it. And please, no sociopaths/psychotic creeps that do M rated things. If you want to do any of that, do it in private and only if the other person is okay with it. If I feel you're screwing the experience up for someone else, I will do something about it. Also- if you're running an evil character, be aware of the risks.

I'd go on more, but there's no point right now. Just tell me if you're interested and we can go from there. I'm the kind of GM that likes doing my best to make your character stand out and excel, while at the same time overwhelming them with powerful beings. There will be epic fights. You have been warned.

So, some questions I have before we begin!

Ability scores, traits, and the like, we need more specifics on those things before we can make some statblocks.

Mooooore importantly, SETTING! Is this a homebrew? If so, are we cool making up our own mythos and lore for our character's backstories and homeland?

If it's not homebrew, whereabouts in Golarion or whatever world will we be set?

I'm also heavily interested in participating!

But, as the poster above me pointed out, we hardly know a thing yet, other than the setting itself is homebrew. Is there a google doc or some such that you could perhaps relay to us?

Thanks for the opportunity!

EDIT: If you want to reach me on Skype, drop me a line at saturndono.

I would like to know more :)

Still waiting on more information...

I feel that the fact he hasn't posted in almost three days is a strong indicator.

He didn't have any responses for two. I wouldn't expect anyone to be on 24 hour alert after 48 hours of inactivity.

Being active in the beginning seems to me like a good indicator for an attentive game, but I could always be wrong. There's always internet problems, and work, etc.

EDIT: The fact that this is the guy's only post period would seem to be another indicator.

Shadow Lodge

Hmm
Would a mad scientist type of character be thematically appropriate? He's evil, but lawful, and isn't the sort to kill, rape or steel for no reason. When he does evil things it's nominally for the greater good, so yes he'll torture and expirament on people but only to learn how to better many more people, or to get vital information out of people. He works to create a utopia where no one ever has to do work that they don't want to do, because constructs and maybe the occasional undead or elemental does all the work for them.
he's a visionary who believes utopia justifies the means
His classes are vivisectionist alchemist and machinesmith
His combat archetypes are hammer and arm, primarily hammer
He can heal and he can deal with traps and he can dish out quite a bit of damage in melee

Alternatively I have a monk (4 winds, master of many styles)/warlock build I've been meaning to play for a while
His gimmic is teleport spamming to be able to flank with himself when he flurry of blows people

I would like to apologize for the wait! It's been busy, and my internet's been spotty.

As for information- I will create a google docs for your viewing. The setting is indeed a homebrew- it takes place on an entirely original world in an entirely original universe. I would be happy to help you create your character's own mythos/lore, and fit it into the general grand scheme.

I'm pretty lax about what traits you want- as for ability scores, it's the standard 4d6, removing the lowest roll. Most classes are perfectly fine, including 3rd party ones (though run them by me first, if they are), and this goes for feats as well. There is a limit to the races- but this depends on the world. I have 8 worlds that I have created, but the one that might work best is Hyrsen, which is populated by Centaur, Vanara, Syrinx, Strix, Dhampir (Strix only), and Kitsune. But races from the other worlds are not entirely unheard of, namely Sylph, Aasimar, Undine, Wyvaran, and a few others. There are three gods of Hyrsen, but several more across the other worlds. I will include this information and more in the google docs.

A mad scientist character would definitely be doable- but there are limits to the technology. I should mention- guns do not exist. Not conventionally. There are cannons, and gunpowder is used to an extent, but technology hasn't advanced enough for the creation of firearms. If he wanted to create a utopia, we can talk about the possibilities privately.

Again, sorry for the wait.

Interested. will mounted combat be allowed, want to try out a new idea i came up with for another game that ended up not gestalt :P

Mounted combat is indeed allowed.

Well. Allowed vs will it be viable option ;)

Depending on the level involved, for awhile I've wanted to see what a duo PC mount and rider team could accomplish.

Well. I can go taur and we can work on something like that.

If the games are over weekends i can try to participate. Since im GMT+2. Its almost 8am here and it would seem almost 12am at your time zone. So yes, weekends would be best for me. Never done it like this. So willing to try

=^^=

Silver Crusade

Dragon rider

would this class be allowed?

This sounds very interesting, I'll look into gestalts and see what I like.

Alright, have an idea for a dwarven stonelord/shielded fighter that transitions into a stonelord/stalwart defender at 11th level. A superpowered defensive build with an awesome earth elemental companion to boot? Would this be feasible in your campaign?

Okay! Answers to questions:

Yes, Dragon Rider is okay, but the races of dragons on Hyrsen are Imperial Sky Dragons instead of the typical true dragons. Also, you would need to come up with a good reason for one to ally itself with you (which I can most certainly help you with).

A dwarven stonelord/shielded fighter/stalwart defender sounds interesting!

The starting level is 1. If people want to do a mounted theme, I'd be fine with that! It actually sounds really cool.

If people are seriously interested, please send me your skype contact information privately so we can communicate more readily. If you don't have skype, it's a free IM/Call program that you download to your computer.

Here's some rolls. You said 4d6b3, right?

I'm currently thinking of warlord, as they can make pretty good mounted characters. Not quite sure what to pair it up with, likely something that gives a scaling mount to fit in with the rest of the mounted guys. Maybe summoner or something.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 4) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 5) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 2) = 11

So 17, 16, 12, 11, 10, 9.

Hmm. I'd ideally prefer to have four positive stats for making warriors, but I suppose I can make this work. The two high scores are fairly good.

The Dragon- you got everything, except reroll anything that's 10 or below for something higher.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 1) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 3) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 4) = 14 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 3) = 16 = 13

Go ahead and bump up one of the 11s to a 16.

Cool. Here's the rerolls:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 3) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 6) = 21

Now this is almost a little too good. But only almost.

18,17,16, 13, 12, 11

Silver Crusade

I could certainly use some help on my dragon, it would be the first time I have been able to play the class.

skype name is: theeyeoftwilight

During day when im not at PC i have access to boards at least

Your posting history really doesn't exist. What's your background with running games?

I certainly enjoy a good gestalt. But, I've seen more games end before they start than I'd like to mention.

Any chance you'd be willing to start higher than 1st? Soo many builds are really just not there until later levels.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 5) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 2) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 5) = 17

Not bad set.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 2) = 134d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 4) = 104d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 4) = 174d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 5) = 124d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 6) = 154d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 1) = 12

11; 9; 14; 11; 13; 11

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 1) = 10

9...

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17

16.

16; 14; 13; 11; 11; 11.

Well, until that 16, I was almost sure I'd have four 11s when I was done. :P

Silver Crusade

4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 5) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 6) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 5) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 6) = 23 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 6) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4) = 9 8

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) = 17 13

so,

18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 11

not bad. I can work with this.

I wouldnt mind an extra level =^^=

I think we can start at level 4...

Julie, go ahead and bump one of those 11s to a 14.

As for posting history... well, I can't really help that. My background really is only with the roleplaying group that introduced me to Pathfinder. I've GMed numerous times with them though- much of the lore for one of the worlds I've created was formed during the roleplay, namely around a level 20 character that defeated one of that world's gods, as well as several other god-like beings...

But regardless- with Julie Dei Vult, Seth86, rorek55, The Dragon, and JABIII now in, I've reached the 5 player limit that I was going for. I won't be accepting any more people in, unless either I feel comfortable, or one of those four leaves.

Also- if any of you four need to contact me concerning the campaign, please do it over skype now that I've added all of you.

Ah, let me know if you need another. I don't post a lot on the weekend due to wife time and playing in the table tops she lets me get away with. I was making characters yesterday for other games. Have tons of free time at work daily so posting lots is no problem.

This is my alias concept for the centaur character. I'll work on him at work and pop on Skype once I get home.

Another taur!

even if it's a horse-man =^^=

Also, if we're starting at 4th level what's our starting wealth? Should I just multiply my 1st level wealth by 4?

no, you roll(class wealth), and add an extra 500, and you get a free mwk weapon

Awesome. Rolled in Skype and got 190. I have 690gp and a Masterwork Composite Longbow +3, correct?

i don't know about the +3, but otherwise, yes :)

disclaimer: I am not the GM, ask him =^^=

It's the strength modifier

I know, but that +3 costs an extra 300gp on top of the 410 for the mwk comp long bow
hence i think you need to ask the gm

Indeed, Dungeon Master, master my assumption, please.

best ask on the skype group

Can't, at work on my phone :(

Rogald Bloodmane wrote:
Can't, at work on my phone :(

ill ask him for you, if you wish? just abut the +3 comp bow?

Would be greatly appreciated, if you don't mind of course?

i asked, now to wait for replay. he may reply here. but i need to go. it's 10:15pm. so if he doesnt reply here, i will reply in the morning if he answered on skype

Rollan dice.

3d10 + 22 ⇒ (10, 4, 4) + 22 = 40

Kk, preciate it.
