Unicorn Cohort

Companions and Cohorts lists unicorns as having an effective cohort lvl of 9, while previously they were listed in the core rule book as having an effective cohort level of 8.

Also the new listing has an asterisk after it, with no indication of what this asterisk is supposed to designate. I'm assuming it was supposed to be the whole "must be a virgin maiden" restriction that is typical of unicorns.

Anyway, the rules question, are Unicorns 8th or 9th lvl cohorts?

Use the main line of books if they and the splat books contradicts each other. Beastiary says 8 so 8 is a Real rule.
