Hello Boards,
I am taking part in a lvl 5 gestalt game and have decided on the Bard and the Daring Champion archetype of the Cavalier class.
My stats are going to be rolled soon, we do this in front of our GM to avoid cheating.
Now I do this because I think the Daring Champion mixed with the Bard really completes the idea of the swashbuckling bard. With Precise Strike, and Fencer's Grace he can deal both Dex and Level to damage. Boosted by the Bard's Inspire Courage it can be quite a good bit of swordplay. The human class bonus for Bard will give him loads of spells.
Now at level 4 is when my Cavalier side would get the precise strike deed. Which is fine as I start at level 5 but this means I might be able to take a CR 1 template and offset my classes with that.
I believe my GM does this with templates it would be Bard 4/CR 1//Cavalier 4/CR 1 and allow one side to be bought off at level 7-8 and then the other side at 10-11 which is about the time this will be wrapping up I think.
The template I was considering was the Suzenrain Creature template from Green Ronin, with the Leadship feat banned I don't have a worry about that adding to the problem we would just ignore it's granted and any mention of cohorts and that spawned from it.
Or would this be a tad to much. This does grant quite a bit of nice bonuses to myself but it also allows some nice perks to my party as well.

There are many reasons I would not allow this at my table, but I don't do templates anyway. If your DM will allow it then it's up to them. I personally feel this is too much, but that's entirely relative to the table I play at.
If I was to allow a template like this I would find similar templates and have each character chose one to keep them in balance.
What do you mean where you say one side bought off?
