Calculating Unarmed Damage (Hybrid-Brawler)

Rules Questions

For all intents and purposes consider me a total amateur scrub who googled as much as possible but came up short;

When calculating unarmed damage, how does it work? The situation I'm wondering about is when a Brawler with a str mod of 4 punches someone while wearing brass knuckles.

I do not understand if you use just the unarmed damage, or just the knuckles (1d3?) or do you add them together (I know the strength bonus comes into play but I have no questions about that).

Depends on which book you're getting your weapon descriptions from. The latest and greatest is that brass knuckles deal 1d3 damage for a medium creature. The whole monk unarmed strike damage doesn't apply anymore.

As far as stacking monk / brawler unarmed strike damage, the ACG doesn't say they stack, so you take the better weapon damage for your unarmed strikes.

Brass Knuckles no longer apply Monk Unarmed and brawler and monk don't stack. Get a Monk's Robe and take Monastic Legacy.

I think I am still not understanding something. Brawler is a hybrid class, what are the advantages of going Monastic Legacy as a Brawler?

I think I must have though you were Monk / Brawler. So Monastic Legacy would be Monk + 1/2 Brawler.
