Hi. My group just got ap2 unboxed and saw the army barrier for first time. So for example the worldwound cadre either requires two combat 18 checks by two different char or diplomacy, knowledge, ranged, survival 12 by 4 different char?
Do the characters need to be at that location?
Does that also mean a party of less than 4 cannot defeat the second condition?
Does that also mean a solo char cannot ever pass this scenario?

If you're solo, you do one of the checks; if you succeed, you defeat.
If you're two players, each picks a different of the six; if both succeed, you defeat. It's only 6 player groups that get hurt, because the party has to make all six checks among them (which means that a number of groups may be forced to assign one or more untrained checks depending on the group setup.)

Oh I see... But Isn't there a grouping?
Combat combat OR diplo knowledge ranged survival
So 1 player - any pick
2 player can each pick different one of the six means one does combat and another does, say, survival...? Or must it be within the grouping?
Those aren't groupings. On that barrier, both Combats have 18, while the other four checks have 12, as their target values. That's the only reason it looks like that.
You can pick ANY of the six; both of you can do combat, for example, because there are two combats.
