Tumor familiar + Ioune wyrd

Rules Questions

I need to know for a ridiculous bloodrager build I'm working on.
Can you select an Ioune Wyrd with the protector archetype as your familiar if you're using Aberrant tumor to gain a Tumor familiar

Do you gain full benefits of the life saving tumor?

Not clear.
The tumor familiar states "animal" several times.

It's does state animal but I got the impression the ability was trying to be generic

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The basic text of the familiar arcane bond refers to familiar initially. When tumor familiar ability was introduced there was no non-animal option for basic familiar. Only later a non-animal familiars were added as an option for regular animals. I'd say that it should work fine.

Of course take into account that because of the way the tumor familiar is linked with the master's body, you will probably end with ioun gallstone, or maybe a ioun bezoar...

I think the vermin familiars came out prior to tumor familiar. But I could be wrong.
Another problem I see is that ioun wyrds have to be created and are not free. But just ask your GM.

Not to make it sound like pokèmon but it does also say that ioune wyrds can be encountered in the wild lol outside hidden wizard towers and in mines because they're hard to keep track of

So my friend wants to do an Ioun Wyrd tumor familiar and want to know if any of the racial stuff would transfer to the master while it is attached? Any of this-

Low-light vision.
Darkvision 60 feet.
Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms).
Immunity to bleed, disease, death effects, necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning.
Cannot heal damage on its own, but often can be repaired via exposure to a certain kind of effect (see the creature's description for details) or through the use of the Craft Construct feat. Constructs can also be healed through spells such as make whole. A construct with the fast healing special quality still benefits from that quality.
Not subject to ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, energy drain, or nonlethal damage.
Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless).
Not at risk of death from massive damage. Immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points or less.
A construct cannot be raised or resurrected.
Proficient with its natural weapons only, unless generally humanoid in form, in which case proficient with any weapon mentioned in its entry.
Proficient with no armor.
Constructs do not breathe, eat, or sleep.

No. The feat/discovery only does what it says it does.

None of those. Ioun wyrd grants its master +1 natural armor bonus and Alertness feat.
