Hey all.
So I am looking to get into some roll20 games as that seems to be the most common on line.
What do I have to do?.......
I play a lot off line, but never on. how do I set up my sheet? does roll 20 have a dice roller (i assume).
Can i set up roll macros?
is a webcam common/required? or is just a mic good enough?
other things i havent thought of?
I keep all my characters online now at mythweavers if that matters.
thanks all.

Hey Furry, I've done quite a bit with roll20 if you want to chat off boards about it. As for your questions:
I believe you have to subscribe to be able to save characters. Most PFS games online don't require sheets because it does take a while to input everything.
What I and a lot of those I've played with have done is save our macros that we use for a specific character in notepad or something and then copy/paste when we play that character.
With roll20, webcams are off, at least all the games I've played. A mic is good, a headset is better. If you're just using your computer's speakers and a mic you can pick up feedback or echoes depending on room configuration.
Some GMs have you send a copy of your character sheet so that they can see it, though not all.

Howdy! Welcome to online play.
If you ever have any question/problems/concerns, feel free to drop the Online PFS Venture Officers an email HERE
To answer your specific questions:
You will need a microphone and a headset/ear-buds, but a camera is completely optional in most games.
Roll20.net has dice rollers built in, so you are good there.
You can find Macro information here: https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros/Pathfinder_Examples
Mythweavers is perfect for your Character sheets.
You will want to scan you chronicle sheets, in case you are asked for them.
(You can even use the camera on your phone, et cetera, if you have no access to a scanner.)
You will likely be using Google+ Hangouts for audio in most games, so you will want to make sure that works for you.
Internet Explorer does not always play nice with most of the online tools used for VTTs and A/V, so you will want to use Chrome, or Firefox (Safari if you are on a Mac).
There is an online convention this upcoming weekend if you want to jump in on that to get your feet wet: APCon 2015 - Online
Make sure and test all your stuff ahead of time to make sure it works, otherwise you will hold up tables trying to work out technical issues at the table.
If you need a primer on Roll20 or G+ Hangouts, drop us a line HERE and we will setup some time to walk you through stuff.
Also check out Youtube, there are a lot of videos on Roll20 on there (at work - so cannot look them up to link them right now)
Feel free to ask any other questions you have and we will get you worked out.
Best wishes,
- Jesse [IronHelixx]
