Is there a list of the specials used to become a 5-star GM?

Silver Crusade 4/5

Not that I'm getting ahead of myself...

As far as I'm aware there is:

  • SP2 Year of the Shadow Lodge
  • SP3 Blood Under Absalom
  • SP4 Race for the Runecarved Key
  • SP5 Siege of the Diamond City
  • SP5-2 Legacy of the Stonelords
  • 6-97 Siege of Serpents
  • 7-00 The Sky Key Solution
  • Ruins of Bonekeep—Level One: The Silent Grave
  • Ruins of Bonekeep—Level Two: Maze to the Mind Slave

Have I missed any, or do any of these not count towards the 10 specials to run?

  • Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

My assumption is that #6-98 & #6-99 do too (but I'm not 100% sure).

    4/5 **

The Exclusive scenarios 2-EX and 3-EX also counted when they were exclusive. Alas, they now show up in the reports as 3-16 and 4-16 (the numbers they got when released to general circulation), so you'd need to check Chronicles for those.

I'm not sure, but the Grand Convocation at PaizoCon in 2012 may also have counted? But it was a one-time event (alas).

    Didn't 4-EX count too?

    4/5 **

Oops, yes, it did. 4-EX = 5-14 Day of the Demon also counted as a special while it was an "EX".

    5/5 5/55/5

Ruins of Bonekeep—Level Three - I would assume.

    • Bonekeep 1
    • Bonekeep 2

Thanks for the list Andrew, what was Grand Convocation 4712? A quick search and I couldn't find anything meaningful on it.

It was an AWESOME experience, especially if you rp'd with the Oracle. ;) jk

It was a PaizoCon 12' only event, that included combat, skill challenges and Rp only encounters.

    4/5 ****

It was a special event with live action components, where players went from table to table completing objectives.

There were various VOs/Paizo staff playing important NPCs (like faction leaders etc)

Finally the players went to their assigned table and completed the finale.

If there's some interest I can go looking for my pictures from then to give some idea.

Also run at PaizoCon UK 2012...

Which reminds me, does the Grand Melee (PaizoCon 2011 & PaizoCon UK 2011) need to be added to that list? I honestly don't know if it counts or not.

    Some highlights:

    Lady Blackros

    Grandmaster Torch

    Olaf Kvaran

Fuzzy picture of Farak and Lady Gabrielle (and friends)

    Thursty as Nigel Aldain

    Bonus ACG playtest card.

    Plot Spoilers for Blackros Matrimony:

Among other things the Convocation had to decide between many suitors who would be best for Michelle Blackros.

1st choice was the Hellknight and second was the Ulfen... thus leading to the Blackros Matrimoony and which NPCs appeared there.

Awesome, thanks for that Robert. I don't suppose there was a write up for the event anywhere, or a pdf of the scenario that was run? Sounds like it would make for a great read.

I'm also curious about Race for the Runecarved Key. Is it worth picking up and running the first part if you can't run part two?

Are the Bonekeep scenarios convention only, or do they have a star requirement?

    Finally...

Well, I was hoping to run this while playing through season 6 at our LGS (a little way off yet as we're currently on season 3, playing once a week, so we'll catch up eventually) so it's handy to know this. This doesn't mean I'm not going to run it, I'll just have to earn that 5th star before that point. 112 tables to go, including 10 specials, how hard could it be?

Race for the Runecarved key is still good without part 2, some might even say better (I wouldn't know).

Bonekeep 1 is currently 4*/5*/VO, Bonekeep 2 and 3 are convention only, atm. I know there have been rumors about bonekeep 2 changing designation. Bonekeep 3 needs 50 tables I believe, 2 I'm not sure.

What about Betrayal in Absalom from GenCon 2009?

    Sovereign Court 1/5

Ah, so this is why I've been getting "You wanna play Bonekeep? You wanna play Bonekeep? You wanna play Bonekeep? You wanna play Bonekeep? You wanna play Bonekeep?" for the last couple months.

    Grand Lodge 4/5

You know that's not the actual reason.

Do I have to be a 4 star GM to start running specials towards my goal of 5 stars?

    Grand Lodge 4/5

Only if the special is a 4-star exclusive, like Serpent's Rise will be. Otherwise, you are free to run it whenever you can schedule it. (The most recent multi-table specials and things like Bonekeep are usually convention exclusive at first.) Volunteering at conventions is the easiest way to get those specials under your belt.

    Grand Lodge 4/5 **

Awesome. I've GMd Blood Under Absalom, Race for the R/C Key, Bonekeep Lv 1, and, I think Year o/t Shadow Lodge at some of the major Cons here in Denver over the past few years.

    Grand Lodge 4/5

I think almost half of my ten was filled with Siege of the Diamond City. :)

Two PaizoCons and a GenCon at Tier 1 can cover your entire career specials needs. Combine with running them at your home cons when you come home, and you can cover almost 10 specials in a year with only a LITTLE pushing...

Yeah, a couple of Paizocons followed by running the specials and exclusives at my home Lodge and I had my ten specials before I had my third star. It was easier when the exclusives weren't Bonekeep, though - most people who want to play it have played it, and a lot of folks aren't into that style of play.

I'm eagerly awaiting Serpents' Rise becoming available as the 4 star special. I hope True Dragons is as awesome, since I need to let the 4 stars run Serpents' Rise....

It was also much easier for Venture-Officers to get their specials, because it didn't matter how many stars we had, we were allowed to run the 4-star exclusives.

I believe this is changing in Season 7.

Yeah, I ran a ton of Cyphermage Dilemma after it came out for whomever would let me run it. :) It was easily half of my required specials before my 4th star.

Current announced policy is the 4 and 5 star exclusive is going to be star only, no VO qualification.

Not sure what bk1 will do in August.

Same here, except Day of the Demon.
