You may add x skill to a check

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

You may shuffle a cohort into your deck to add your Stealth skill to your combat check.

Does this give you your Stealth die instead of the normal die, or your stealth die in addition to the normal die, or just the +x from your stealth skill, or something all together different?

Example

You may shuffle a cohort into your deck to add your Stealth skill to your combat check

It's "add" not "instead of", so you roll your normal combat check dice/bonuses, add the stealth die and the +x from your stealth skill.

That is awesome, thanks.

I´m assuming your talking about Adowyn´s role power feat?

Let's say you have Skill Feat and use a Hand Crossbow, your role would then be:
1d12+1d6+1

Now, we can recharge another card (Hand Corssbower power) and even shuffle Leryn back in our deck in the 4th Adventure, giving us:

1d12+1d6+2d8+5 (1d8+4 from Leryn, 1d8 from Hand Crossbow)

If you would use the power that you listed, your total roll would be:

2d12+1d6+2d8+7

Yes, that's one roll. Without Skill Feats.

Basically, you get to add 1d12+2+Dexterity Skill Feats above your combat roll. (So if you have 2 skill feats in Dexterity: You would get +4. 2 for Ranged, 2 for Stealth).

Hope this clears it up a bit.

There is also a notion in the FAQ about the topic.
When those cards that add a skill to a check came out with Skull & Shackles and the class decks it was unclear if that would modifiy the type of check.

Long story short they do not.
So with the power you mentioned some people would assume they could play Potion Of Hiding or Cloak/Boots of Elvenkind on that check but you cannot.
