With the HP that a high Con from SAD can grant, having a healing would allow you to keep going for a long time... also according to here: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2no20?Spell-failure-Hexs there's no spell failure for hex use, and I think burning a spell slot for a cure is hex (specifically "Spontaneous Healing (Su)") - thus might not incurr spell failure. Now if he can also make himself a threat (besides looking threatenening) to get people to attack him, he could make a good tank... with a battleaxe and powerattack? :) -- Or flag bearer feat :D
I guess the self-healing tank is typically a paladin... but he can't smile quite the same way "hehehehehehe" (cackle)

If healing and wearing armor while using hex is what you are looking for, Shaman has you covered.
Beside that, scarred witch doctor are already natural tank with their high con, high will save and for the healing, just get wands and that's pretty much it. Witches do get the heal spell, basically the only healing spell worth casting during a battle, so that's good for later on.
