I'm working out the build for my eldritch scion and I've come up to an interesting situation.
At level 11, with the fey bloodline, my eldritch scion will gain haste as a bonus spell.
But what happens in the very likely situation that I already know haste? Will the bonus be wasted? Can I learn another level 3 spell for free if this is the case?
If the bonus spell would be wasted, there's another interesting thought. At level 11, the eldritch scion also has a choice of replacing one level 3 or lower spell with another spell of that level. Could I choose to replace haste and gain another level 3 spell before I gain the bonus spell haste as per part of my bloodline?

In general, by the standard rules, no. However, there are optional retraining rules (in ultimate campaign I think?) that might cover this (we don't use them so I don't have the specifics).

By the rules, no you wouldn't automatically get another free spell.
You could retrain it into another spell before you gain it from the bloodline.
As a GM, I would allow you to learn another spell in place of haste since you already know it. Ask yours, they will probably be reasonable.
