Feasibility of Hydrokineticist in Book 1 of Reign of Winter?

Reign of Winter

My group is going to be creating characters for this campaign this upcoming Monday, and my GM said I could play a Playtest Kineticist and do a rebuild when Occult Adventures comes out; I need to know whether a cold-based Hydrokineticist will be able to contribute in and/or out of combat in the first book of this AP. Thoughts?

Don't know the class, but I can say that anything that specialises in cold based damage may well be at a disadvantage at various points over the AP.

The problem is that the playtest version of the class locks you into a single blast for the first 6 levels, which is equivalent to the first two books or so. There will likely be a fix to this in the final version of the class, but I will still be stuck with just cold damage for up to the entirety of the first book, and I don't know whether or not I'll be able to contribute in any meaningful way.

The answer is yes, but not always, there will be tines where you better have a secondary option, or you just won't be able to contribute.

Cool; I think I'm going to rely on Slick to get me through the fights where I can't contribute via damage. It still sucks that I'll be doing 1d6+3 cold damage per round instead of 1d6+7 bludgeoning. Hopefully being able to effectively disarm individuals and trip groups will make up the difference.
