I've noticed a strange behavior on the forums recently. When I click on a thread to open it, and after reading it go back to the forum index page by pressing the back button in the browser, the index page scrolls up several screen pages instead of bringing me to the point where I was when I opened the thread. This seems to happen regardless of the browser. I have experienced it with both Firefox and Chrome on Linux and Mac OS X, as well as with Safari on iOS. I remember that this was not always the case, has anything changed that causes this?

The way I usually deal with it is to click on the actual messageboard forum I want to deal with but that doesn't do anything for proximity or for going down the list. You can focus to narrow things down to the topics you've previously been interested in but if you want to look at new posts, that's not useful. Currently there is no way around the ajax page build but we've made some headway on certain aspects of how those pages render and it might be worth readdressing soon. That's really a Cort/Gary question though.

Watch the sidebar to the left. If you scroll down beyond the bottom of it on any page to follow a link, and then hit back, it will load the previous page level with the bottom of the sidebar. If, however, you followed a link higher up than that, it will correctly load you at the same point.
At least that's my experience with this behaviour.
