[Interest Check] Age of Worms OSR

Recruitment

I am considering running an Age of Worms campaign, but I have no interest in using Pathfinder or D&D 3.x/4E/5E.

I currently have three choices in mind for the campaign.

Adventurer, Conqueror, King
Sword and Wizardry Complete
AD&D 2E

Just testing the waters for popularity of these systems and the Age of Worms which is one of the most "throwback" of all the APs ever released (and my personal favorite).

Sword and Wizardry Complete has a more extension list of Monsters.

Adventure, Conqueror, King has a rather interesting choice of classes between the main book and companion which I liked.

And AD&D 2E is a system I have a familiarity with (atleast formerly) and is a complete game with all the splat books.

That's crazy talk.....

Don't make me do it.....

ok 2nd edition....I will make a Ranger/Druid/mage....

No worse than you see nowadays, lol. I grew up on AD&D and have the most familiarity with it. I even ran a retrogame several years back that all the players vastly enjoyed (none of them had ever played it).

After some consideration... I'd throw Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG into the pool of choices too.

2nd ed .....interesting
I'll download sword and wizardry and take a look.

Dark dungeons is a free 2nd edition retroclone....

I would be in for 2nd ED game been more than day. Taking a look at the Dark Dungeons as well.

Downloaded Dark Dungeons to give it a look.

I, for one, would not be opposed to trying out a game of Swords & Wizardry.

I never did get to try first edition; taking a retro-clone out for a spin might be fun.

You might have better luck just picking a system. I would not mind trying ACK's but so far it seems like your takers are wildly spread among systems.

Meant to say, make sure it is the Sword and Wizardry Complete.

Technically, S&W is a retro-clone for Original D&D (aka 0E) not 1E which is AD&D. The retro-clone for 1E is OSRIC.

/pedantic thread derail

I will go with whatever the group decides!

Swords and Wizardry looks like the closest to 2nd edition that I found.
Plus it is a free download here on the paizo site from Frog God Games.

Dark Dungeons and For Gold & Glory are ok also.

I guess my vote is Swords and Wizardry.

Another vote for S&W.
Realized that some people may not have access to the old 2nd edition rules.

voting S&W Also although I would like to see ACK.

Currently I have S&W Complete revised -> we are talking about using this book hm?

Yeah. The complete version. Though I am not sure if I have the revised. I'll check when I get home.

And since you can get the FGG version which is the complete version here on Paizo for free that is even more reason to go with Sword & Wizardry.

I'll post up the recruitment thread tonight after I have a chance to type up the game description and information.

Going to work on it more tomorrow night. I downloaded the version of S&W on Paizo. I have a decent write-up for the recruitment right now, but I want to spice it up more. And I got a three-day weekend after tomorrow night! Weee!

There's a version on paizo? Does it differ from the one on FGG?

Free pdf available on drivethrurpg.com as well.

No. It is the same one. The Otus Cover.

Well, it looks like you might actually have enough interest for this game, which is awesome. Congratulations!

I might submit a PC for the game once you have the full details up because I have been totally "jonesing" to play some truly old-school D&D again.

I am waiting to see the campaign info write up and which alternatives the DM is going to allow in the game.
