Verifying: Qualifying for Arcane Discoveries

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

I suspect I know the correct answer to this, but do the wizard level requirements for Arcane Discoveries HAVE to be met with pure Wizard levels (as opposed to partly by prestige classes that advance wizard magic, for example)?

Sadly, you'd be right.

So your Wizard 10 / Loremaster 10 can cast 9th level spells as a 20th level wizard, but can't take Immortality (Arcane Discovery) because he's not actually a 20th level wizard.

Too bad "Wizard Training" isn't spread around to other classes the way Fighter Training is.

Scarab Sages

Thanks.

Of course, if I were DM of a home game, I'd allow prestige classes to qualify for Discoveries that were consistent with their areas of focus (so the Veiled Illusionist could still let you qualify for the Resilient Illusions Discovery, and Loremaster would let you qualify for any of them) , but this is for Organized Play. Making a feat that allowed you to declare a certain prestige class passable for this would make sense, too.
