Hello everyone.
I am super excited to annouce that my first two Pathfinder roleplaying game compatible products that I am self-publishing under the the name Rusted Iron Games are now available on Paizo.com.
The products are:
Deadly Gardens Volume 1: Phoenix Lilly
Fearsome Foes: The Ravenous
They are available here.

Okay, so you're the 2nd person whose PM button I can't find.
I wonder now if it's me. Harrumph.
I'd be happy to give you a review - I'm not genius with the formatting standards of Paizo products, but I'm good with everything else. While formatting is important (and I'm a fine copy editor generally, when I know the particular requirements of a publisher) it's certainly not my forte here. If that's good enough, you can e-mail me using my pseudonym at the standard gmail thingy - dot com of course.
While you're doing that, I'm going to ask someone @ paizo what I'm doing wrong when I can't find anyone's PM button.

Thanks CripDyke!
I sent you some free download coupons/links from OBS. Let me know if you don't get them.
I don't see the PM link on your page either. Do you have PMs enabled on your account? Go to My Account->Privacy Settings and check the box that enables people to send you PMs. You may not be able to send them to others if its not enabled on your account.

@Rusty -
I got the coupon-links from you. Thanks so much.
Kids will be home in a half-hour, so probably nothing immediate, but I've glanced at both and I'm liking what I see so far.
I have, already, however, noticed one beautiful, but missed, opportunity:
the other ogres are absorbed into the ranks of the Ravenous ...
you say at one point.
I read that and found myself groaning at the truncated sentence that i was just sure was supposed to read
the other ogres are absorbed into the ranks of the Ravenous, one way or another.
Is it so wrong of me to consider the sentence unfinished without those 4 words?

Welcome to the field, chief! Find a schtick and differentiate yourself ASAP :)
Also, if you need help getting into the four primary storefronts, just PM me. If you expand beyond Pathfinder, e23 may also light up, though you'd have to ask Creighton if e23 is worth the effort. He got in before Steve Jackson's payout ticker got poor enough to lock us blokes out.

Thanks Bradley!
I am set up on Paizo, One Book Shelf and the Open Gaming store (d20pfsrd). What is the fourth storefront?

Studio 2, though they're more into Savage Worlds. That said, they DO have a frontpage ticker for all of their publishers' Kickstarters, which is nice, and their contract is the most one-sided in our favor of all the contracts I've signed. As written, the publisher is the only party that can end the contract. :P

Blast it, Rusty! I didn't see this thread in time, and I just bought Phoenix Lilly on RPGNow. Normally, I like keeping my Pathfinder PDF purchases confined to Paizo.com, unless they have an exclusive deal with another storefront, as sometimes happens. That what I get for not looking first, I suppose. That being said, I've already put The Ravenous on my "to get" list pending my being able to take a good look at Phoenix Lilly.
Incidentally, what made you decide to spell Lilly with two "l"s, instead of "lily" (I'm assuming it's not a typo)?

Hey, Rusty.
I was curious about what steps you took to start publishing. I've been contemplating getting into it on the side, but wasn't sure where to start with regards to forming a company (or if I actually needed to formally form a company).
You can do this in two hours, max, provided you have a product ready to go.
Step 1! Sign this.
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/compatibility
Step 2! E-mail this with a product.
consignments@paizo.com
Step 3! Submit a product for initial publisher review here.
www.rpgnow.com
Step 4! E-mail this guy.
jreyst@d20pfsrd.com
You can start everything without an LLC, in which case you will fill your taxes out as a "hobby". The difference between a hobby and an LLC for tax purposes is that if the hobby takes a loss, you round up to -0-, but if the LLC takes a loss, you can wipe that loss away from your other income (or your spouse's if you're married). As an aside, manipulating a loss in a 100% legal fashion is very easy to do and, though the government will shut you down after a few years of consistent losses unless you show significant growth in the company despite those losses, it's a great way to reclaim the money they take from your working stiff paycheck.

Yeah it took a little while to get set up to sell the pdf's through Paizo, but we are working now. Regardless, thank you for buying a copy of the Phoenix Lilly PDF!
I spelled "Lilly" with two "L"s because that's how you spell Lilly! Right? ...right?
*after frantically checking dictionary.com*
Anyway, that is how my brain spells lilly and it seems both spellings are acceptable, which is why it wasn't flagged by my many passes through the spell checker! Although it does seem that spelling it "Lily" may be the more common spelling.

Hey, Rusty.
I was curious about what steps you took to start publishing. I've been contemplating getting into it on the side, but wasn't sure where to start with regards to forming a company (or if I actually needed to formally form a company).
As InterjectionGames stated in his excellent post, you can start the process of selling PDFs on those various webstores. However, except for rpg.now don't expect to be finished with that process in two hours. It took closer to two weeks for me to get set up on both Paizo, and the Open Gaming Store.
As far as acutally publishing something, that is a lot more work. In addition to writing the actual game rules and background material, you will likely need someone who can edit/proofread that material. Unless you want your PDFs to look like a standard word processor document, you will also need to be able to use a desktop publishing software package like microsoft publisher or Indesign to do the layout. Then there is the hardest part, getting art for your products.
Freelancing and Third Party Publishing is something that I have wanted to do for a while now. After making the Top 16 in this years RPG Superstar contest, I was motivated to persuing this goal more actively.
Even though my plant monster the Stonevine Stalker didn't get me into the Top 8, I still learned so much from being part of the contest and the feedback that I recieved. Also, I had done a ton of research on all the existing plant monsters in Pathfinder and had bunch of good ideas for other plant monsters. This gave me my idea for my first product - the Deadly Gardens series which features a series of plant monsters. It will be a series, I currently have outlines for about 12 to 15 monsters.
Once I had my first product written, I found a few local artists and had them start producing some artwork. There are also some excellent stock art products available if you want to use them.
For layout I was lucky enough to have a friend that used to work as a graphic artist. He designed my logo and worked with me to develop a document template for InDesign. It is because of him that the Rusted Iron Games PDFs look as good as they do.
Once I had my first product ready, I concentrated on getting set up to sell them through the various web stores mentioned. Since then I have been working on promoting the business and the products so people know they are available. And working on the next products of course.
Okay that was kind of long and rambling. Let me know if you have specific questions.

That's actually pretty good! If you don't mind I might add that to the pdf.
I just realized that I have to make a correction to the OGL section so I have to update the PDF anyway.
