What happens at level 8 to a character with both the Squire and Torchbearer feats? Does the second instance of Leadership do anything, or is it wasted?

wasted. It is not a feat that has any effect if gained multiple times. If you want to be even more wasteful, play a class with the domain feature and take nobility.

You could prestige into Noble Scion too I suppose for even more waste.
