Ki Throw with Greater Trip

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

If I have Ki Throw and Greater Trip, where does the Attack of Opportunity allowed by Greater Trip take place?

Can I:

A) Trip them, they provoke, then take the AoOs, then move them?
B) Trip them, move them, then they provoke and take the AoOs?
C) Trip them, they provoke, then move, then make the AoOs?

This is important if I have allies nearby who may also be able to make AoO.

Sovereign Court

B

Ki Throw talks about making them prone in a different square than their own. Becoming prone is what tripping does. Therefore they're not tripped until they get to their new square.

Paizo distinctly calls out the difference between the trip and prone.

This is important because Greater Trip happens when the trip is successful and Vicious Stomp happens when the individual goes prone. This is pointed out in the FAQ.

So, I would say the trip happens in the original square and prone happens in the final square of the Ki Throw.

If, say, you have Vicious Stomp and Combat reflexes, you would get the AoO from Greater Trip while they are still in their original square, and the AoO from Vicious Stomp once they are in the new square.

At least I think that's how it works.
