Best Revelations to pick up with Ring of Revelation

Advice

I'm currently in a Reign of Winter campaign playing a lunar oracle. We're pretty flush with cash at this point, and I was thinking of picking up a Ring of Revelation. Now, it says on the pfsrd that if you have a high enough UMD you can make use of the revelation in the ring even if you're not of the correct mystery. What are the most powerful revelations that you can pick up using this trick?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The revelations that I really like:

* Sidestep Secret/Nature's Whispers - CHA to AC and CMD/Reflex is very potent. Of course, you are already a Lunar oracle, so this is a no for you.

* Misfortune - Technically a revelation, though your GM probably will rule that you can't get it. If you can get it, though...

* Surprising Charge - Immediate action movement. You can actually use this to dodge a full attack.

* Skill at Arms - Martial Weapon Proficiency and Heavy Armor Proficiency.

* Warsight - Always go first. Act in the surprise round. Very powerful.

* Focused Trance - By RAW this works on crafting, which pretty much means auto-success. Even if not, it's basically a +YES to any knowledge check you make for a limited number of times a day.

* Channel - Not really recommended, but in case if you're ever stuck as the healer.

* Dance of the Blades - It's basically a +10 ft. movement speed with a few additional benefits.

* Armor Mastery - If you get heavy armor proficiency as well, Celestial Plate Armor gets a max dex (cha) of +9 at 15th level and no ACP. If you can get the GM to make it mythril as well it goes up to +11. Get a high armor AC bonus on top of your Prophetic Armor!

* Time Sight - This is for high levels, but even in the strictest reading it's 15 free uses of Moment of Prescience at level 15, plus True Sight for free added in when you don't need to use it.

* Whirlwind Lesson - Note that I'm not recommending this as a permanent thing. Instead, if at higher levels your allies decide to buy a Manual of Gainful Exercise or something, you can pop on the ring, have him read the book in one day, and gain the benefits of the book alongside him. Two books for the price of one, and the benefits are compounded for each party member that buys or crafts an inherit stats book! Be sure to share your own +CHA tome with someone as well.

A couple of others of note. I'm assuming you're at least 7th level.

Occult: phantom touch, touch attack for a no-save panicked effect for probably the rest of the fight, 3+cha times/day.
Spellscar: mystic null, +2 insight bonus on saves vs. just about any magic, improves to +4 at 11th level.

Source? Everything I've seen indicates the opposite is the case.

It's from Jacobs so it's iffy at best. Still more than any official response.

Yeah, he's repeatedly said he's not a rules source. I was hoping for an official FAQ. =)

Now, obviously, it's a home game and the OP can just chat with their GM and make sure everything's kosher. In that case Felyndiira hit most of the high points. You could always couple Awesome Display with a page of spell knowledge (or something to that effect) for color spray shenanigans, but that's a good way to get a GM to reverse a generous decision.
