best cleric build for 2nd darkness?

Advice

Reach evanglist cleric or summoning/caster cleric? Dwarf cleric or human ? 20 point buy with just core books UC UM UCamp. Thoughts?

Grand Lodge

Dwarf for dark vision.

Only go reach if you feel the other 3 can't produce combat effiency.

Summoner/caster is my choice.

Silver Crusade

Same vote as Fruian. Go with summoning unless your allies need help with combat efficiency. If your allies don't include a front line melee specialist then, of course, go with the reach build as the next best thing.

why not a reach/summoning evangelist cleric? It surprisingly easy to make all three of those work in the same character. The only thing that you lose when combining the three is that you trade in higher dex levels and with that combat reflexes. Some say this is a bad idea but honestly this isn't the case for this specific character. Yes you could potentially get another swing or two in with AoOs but compared to you summoning half a dozen beasts and you giving them +2 or 3 to attack and damage your swings are weak (double so if you have glory/heroism).

For such a build (or even a standard reach build) human is very nearly the only way to go because this is feat intensive and you have no bonus feats to aid you. A dwarf is a superior choice but falls just short of human for these particular types of cleric.

Reach evangelist, simply because while summoning builds can be powerful, they stop being fun when they bog down the game - to help alleviate this pain you end up spending a bunch of time creating stat blocks for your won critters so you don't waste time figuring it out in the middle of a combat, or you pass the buck to your gm who will not thank you, nor will the players if you do it in the middle of a session. And truth be told there are ways to be rid of summons on the high end -- eh, different thread.

Anyway, I'd consider reach evangelist, just because you're a great support, and with so many buffs and heals being touch range, well, you get it. Heavy armor if you can afford it anyway, unless you have other plans for those feats that are demanding.

I'd also consider playing a tanky stone oracle were I you. Not as much spell versatility, but you get more of them. If you can control the center ground, and you're a spearhead (i.e. everyone stays behind you, or doesn't advance past your mark) you can really screw the battlefield up for non-flying enemies. Reach spells, heavy armor, defensive combat training. mix n match, but makes for a really good battlefield controller particularly a dwarf with stonesinger/magic resistance, and the stone stability revelation.

aemesh is correct about the paperwork so make sure your prepped for that. when I make a summoning based cleric I always take sacred summons for both mechanical reasons and because my go to options are short enough I can have premade lists ready to go.
