Kingmaker was obviously a hit and it's been a fair while since it was out. I haven't been following the "what's next" speculation/hint threads of late. Any chance something like this is on the cards? Tying it to exploration of a new continent is an obvious direction to go, but I'm sure there are plenty of places in the inner sea where it could work.

I don't think another one is planned, but all the rules you need are in Ultimate Campaign so you could come up with your own.
How about this for a set up.
Mystery dungeon gets uncovered on an island during recent earthquake. PCs investigate and discover some kind of gate at the bottom of it. Not knowing how to open it they start doing some research when along comes a roving horde of Orc Vikings to raid the town. At the same time we discover that the earthquakes were prelude to the long dormant volcano erupting. Caught between lava and Orcs the PCs lead the villagers to the gate, open it in desperation and flee through it.
Beyond the gate they find a strange uninhabitted world, and unfortunately the gate on the other side doesn't have a DHD so they are stuck here. They must help their band of refugees build a new village while they explore this strange new world and make a life for themselves
