reposition / drag prone enemy with reach

Rules Questions

hi all,
wondering posibilities of using a reach weapon with the trip property to reposition or drag an opponent who is prone. my tactics would be holding the front line and shoving prone enemies into sideways flanks or behind me.drag would be my second option if reposition on prone is not allowed. i also can use unarmed strikes so i will probaly be using ki throws as well. my cmb is fairly high for a 5th level pc and wanted to maximize the distance i can reposistion, drag, and throw.

Not only would this work, but you would get a +4 bonus for repositioning a prone target. I like to think of this as lifting the target and essentially throwing him without causing harm. If the ground is particularly slippery, you could get a nice humanoid hockey puck going.

+4 from the fact that his ac is -4 thus his cmd is at the -4. wording is always wonky with pathfinder. so many people i've played with want to take the +4 while attacking and then tell the gm that the prone anemy has a -4 to ac...... lol

since i'm getting bonus and at reach, i doubt i'll ever take improved repostion/drag unless i find i need the +2 and am doing the manuever in 5ft melee range

or i run out of choices for feats which has'nt come up yet since my build is very MAD and feat dependent

You are quiet correct. It is a -4 to his CMD because its a -4 AC penalty for his being prone, technically speaking.

I think this comes from GMs frequently forgetting the -4 AC for the foe being prone. When you are the one who tripped them you are very aware of it. I usually tell my GM, "I'm counting +4 to hit for the foe being prone, so you can just use its normal AC and CMD." I've yet to have a GM object to this, so long as it is clear the prone penalty only counts once.
