How many grab attempts?

Rules Questions

So I'm knocking up some characters and just need to clarify how Omox Demon attacks. Its melee attack is as follows

Quote:
Melee 2 slams +21 (1d6+8 plus 3d6 acid and grab)

On both successful hits, does he deal out the acid damage twice and attempt to grab twice?

He gets a grab attempt for each successful slam attack, and the acid damage applies on each hit also.

Thanks so much for your speedy reply. It's what I assumed, just wanted to double check.

Multiple grabs are not usually meaningful, though. Unless it specifically says different in the monster's description, the Grapple attempt made as part of that Slam with Grab can only be used to start a grapple, not maintain one. So a Giant Crab, for instance, wouldn't be able to Grab you with his first Claw to Initiate a Grapple, then hit you with his 2nd and make you Pinned. He could hit you with his 2nd, but you wouldn't be Pinned. Also, if his first Grapple attempt failed, the 2nd might succeed.

If your demon wore Spiked Armor, there would be another use for Grab. Spiked Armor inflicts Armor Spike Damage with every successful Grapple Attempt, so if this demon was wearing Spiked Armor, and why not? he could Slam, Grab, Damage, let go as a Free Action, then Slam, Grab, and do damage again.
