Howdy folks!
So about Land Mines..
What do you think the range is? It doesn't really specify a range. So I see two ways, one is its "only the 5ft square your in" and the other being it's bomb range.
It has similar wording as trapper ranger, which later gains the ability to attach it to a ranged bow..
So thoughts? Off hand I feel like they probably meant at your feet or a nearby 5 ft square. But thought I'd ask. Since this archetype would be considerably more useful if ranged and i've had someone I was talking to assume it was ranged because it is modifying the Bombs class ability but does not alter range, while altering duration, and activation.
After he pointed that out, I can see it that way. There isn't a lot of direct evidence one way or another. I saw it as option 1 :at your feet.
but now I dearly want it to just be bomb's thrown range. Becuase it would be so much more useful.
and I used to play Dofus as a Sram...
Figured I'd ask others to help me exclude my "rule of cool " biasness.
Secondly since you can modify it as you will, that means you can even add the * stuff, and create lines of fire and such.
So. Do you think you can use a rock to set it off? or use the various skills in the game that let you set off traps? (like that swift action one)
Since.. with the right feat choices you could boost things abit.
Also in general for a trap. When someone sets it off you have to roll to hit on the trap? or just their reflex roll? I've seen both in some traps so i figured throw it in here too. Too bad I can't get ranger traps to work off Int as well.
Land Mine (Ex)
At 6th level, a trap breaker can turn his bombs into land mines. Setting a land mine is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. The land mine fills a single 5-foot square, and can't be placed in the same space as another trap, land mine, or magic trap. The trap breaker can arm the land mine with any bomb he is eligible to use, and the effects of this bomb are immediately transferred to the land mine. Creating a land mine uses up two of the alchemist's bombs per day. The DCs for Perception checks to notice the land mine, Disable Device checks to disable it, and saving throws to avoid its effects are equal to 10 + 1/2 the alchemist's level + his Intelligence modifier. All alchemist land mines are mechanical traps with the qualities Trigger: location and Reset: none. Land mines last for 1 day per alchemist level or until they are triggered, whichever comes first.
This ability replaces swift poisoning.

The trap breaker and Inspired chemist archetypes seem to be usable together. You could use a discovery to select two investigator talents one being Rogue Talent: Cunning Trigger. That would let you trigger a trap within 30' as a swift action, while under the effects of the cognatogen.
OOh. Not a bad idea at all.
