Archer, hunter or sacred huntsmaster

Advice

Hi all, i'm looking to play to a Archer hunter character, a cool guy that shoot while his pet go in, i'm uncertain between the hunter and the inquisitor sacred huntmaster, sice they come to be pretty similar.
The game i will join will start at lv 1, PB 15 no traits, i know the master well and i know that we will not go up fast in levels, also we will probabily play with the vigor and wounds alternate rule.
The rest of the party will be : wizard, melee alchemist, swashbuckler and barbarian, so the frontline are alredy well furnished.

The advantage of the hunter from what i can see is a free feat (precise shot) and very good spells for my companion (barkskin, greater magic fang).
On the other hand The inquisitor seems way more versatile, i get more damage (bane and i can still get an animal focus) and better skills (also looking at conversion inquisiton to cover my socials, maybe not the strongest option but i like the idea to dump cha to free up some points and still be a good talker).
since there aren many good teamwork feats for an archer build i could swap them for the abilities of preacher.

Whats your thoughts?

The Huntsmaster basically trades judgments for a pet that can use its teamwork feats and animal focus. Realistically there is not much left of the Hunter that the Huntsmaster doesn't have plus the extra stuff of an Inquisitor so I would say go Inquisitor and be the party face and a ranged combatant with the ability to heal and investigate.

That and bane will rock the socks off any encounter you run into once you hit level 5.

And umm once you hit 9th camel + Target of Opportunity for lols.

something like this?
sacred huntsmaster, preacher archetype, conversion inquisition
human
14 str, 15+2dex, 12 con, 10 int, 14 wis, 7 cha
point blank shot
precise shot
big cat pet

Scarab Sages

I would avoid preacher archetype like the plague.
1) You'll get a lot more ability out of your teamwork feats by counting your other allies as if they have them, even if your pet already has it.
2) Because you grant your teamwork feats to your pet for free, you're really unlikely to want to upgrade your Determination ability ever.
3) At maximum you can use your determination 7 times per day.

If you want to roleplay him as a preacher that's all well in good. I just think it's a mechanically weak archetype. I also think the tactics inquisition can give a bonus that will make your party very happy (by helping the wizard go first). I'm imagining the Swashbuckler is your party face?

Scarab Sages

Oh since you're going to have an AC and be an archer, may I suggest becoming an Evangelist of Erastil

If you go that route, the feather subdomain and cooperation subdomains may be nice for you.

yess.. teamwork feats. Enfilading fire? No, what's the one that lets you auto-flank targets in melee with your ally? Get that one. And definietly go with the Inquisitor, since he doesn't even need his allies to have teamworks to reap the benefit. Hunter gets a bunch of teamwork feats, but they *only* get applied to his companion, not to other allies (unless of course, they also take the feats. Could be a much more viable build if you had say, a cavalier in your party, or ahem, an inquisitor) The static buffs from hunters are lackluster compared to all the goodies inquisitors get. Plus, crazy weaponbuffs that are almost as good as magus' and better spell lists (imo) because they can be applied in more circumstances than just for the animal buffs/survival/naturey stuff.

Not to sound wishywashy though - the hunter has the better skills/spells if the rest of your party lacks an outdoor specialist. In those cases when you're out in the wild, you're gonna get the spotlight, and be at least marginally more effective than the sacred huntsman. But the real block on this is how awkward it'll get if/when you're in urban settings. Guard: "sorry sir, you can't bring that panther in here." you: but, but, if only I had a better diplomacy!" Swashbuckler: "hmm, let me try...*flashes some gold* By the way, you owe me. *Gives you sidelong glance*

I think ultimately though, you've already got a lot of beef up at the front line - is your heart totally set on the animal companion? I'd almost dump the critter and take a ranger guide or one of the other non-pet inquisitor builds. Summoners/pet builds can sometimes bog the game just a little more, or clog up the lines - especially in tight quarters-when there's a 5 man party; nothing is more irritating to a barbarian then having to kick your badger out of the way just to get close enough to be able to do his one trick pony show.

@ B. A. Robards-Debardot: sadly i cant take golarion speficic stuff, also i will give a try to the teamwork feats.

@Aemesh: Thats is why i'm attrached to the conversion inquisition, it let me have nice social abilities
