Been looking through ranger and I think I'm good to go except on one part. I wanted to play a crossbow ranger, but I can't find anywhere where it tells me I become proficient with them just for taking the bonus feats. So my question is, do I take Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Crossbow) as one of my regular feats or do I just assume I'm good to go?
Extra note: My DM thought it odd that it wasn't listed and just told me to take it as a feat, mostly asking for future reference.

Heavy and light crossbows are simple weapons. Rangers are proficient in all simple and martial weapons, which thus includes crossbows.
However, hand crossbows and repeating crossbows (both light and heavy) are exotic weapons. Is this what you are referring to?
If you are going to use a repeating crossbow, you will need the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat for it.
Alternatively, if you plan on taking the Crossbow Mastery feat, you don't need a repeating crossbow. By taking the archery (or crossbow style, which is pretty much strictly inferior), you can get this feat at level 6 without needing Rapid Reload, which this feat makes obsolete.

Ah, I overlooked them. I knew something was off :I. Thanks for pointing this out though, I was planning to grab a hand crossbow.
Oh and just noticed I put this in the wrong forum, that's my bad.

Instead of expending a feat, you have a couple of options:
- Take one level in Rogue. Get Sneak Attack, tons of skill points, and hand crossbow proficiency.
- Take the Divine Tracker archetype. You lose Wild Empathy (meh) and an animal companion (double meh). But if you worship Nocticula or Xhasnaphar or any of the gods with hand crossbow as their favored weapon, you automatically gain proficiency in that weapon! Plus you get Warpriest blessings... Xhasnaphar gives you the awesome Protection/Liberation combo, all you have to be is LN.
