Quick clarification on helping others

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Haven't started playing yet, just finished reading the rules and was hoping for some quick clarification. I don't believe this was explicitly stated but I apologize if it was. When a character is undergoing a check and other's are able to help them, do they have to be in at the same location or can they play cards to help from anywhere?

Part of what I read seemed to indicate that certain help had to come from people in the same locations, but the overall feel I got from playing cards to help others is that it could be done from any locations, not just the same location.

Sorry if this has been asked already. I looked through the FAQ and didn't see it though.

It depends on the card. If the card says "at your location", you need to be at the same location. If it needs to be at another location (like Harsk, or a Light Crossbow), then you need to be at different locations. If it doesn't say (like a Blessing of the Gods) then it doesn't matter.

You might find this guide helpful. If you are playing Skull and Shackles, some of the terminology isn't exactly correct, but the general principles are still true.

Good luck on your adventure.

Ok, got it. So the card will basically either say or not. Thanks all, that does clear it up. And thanks for the link. I will definitely check out that guide.

And especially if a card doesn't say you can use it to help someone else (like it's the case for most weapons), then you can't.
