Dwarf Fighting Aberrations

Advice

Help!I need somebody! Help! Not just anybody! See when I was younger, so much younger than today I found a class that fit the flavor of something I have just come to learn about and think is awesome. Pretty much I am trying to make a Dwarf who is modeled off of the Legion of the Dead from the Dragon Age Universe.

These dwarfs have lost there honor, and in order to regain it offer the rest of there lives to fight off the unending horrors of the deep. They go as far to have funerals, full of mead and merry making, are recorded as dying honorably in battle in the records; and then join the rest of the legion in their never ending quest. To this end I want a tough as nails dwarf suited to tackling on horrors and demons with ease, all while being as dwarfy of a dwarf as possible.

I have seen a class (prc or archetype) that fit this flavor and function perfectly, but alas, after days of searching and pouring over books from 3rd edition to 4th, finally stopping at pathfinder I am at a loss. Does anyone know of a 3.5 prc or pathfinder archetype that matches this flavor (ignoring dark runner which is the closest I have seen so far.

This is for a pathfinder game(although the gm said he would allow some 3.5 stuff). If you know of the class I am thinking of, or if you know of some way to get that flavor with appropriate mechanics please let me know. Thanks.

Got it covered.

Being a Lawful Good hunter of Aberrations seems pretty damn Dwarfy. Hope it helps.

Would a pureblade slayer work out? I kind of like slayer for a 'honorless' dwarf, since it shows can show the kind of history and skill you had before joining the cause, and how you apply them to your current goals.

It also has an ability at level 8 where you are more resistant to mind control, and you can just decide 'nuh-uh' and break off such effects 1/day.

You might want to avoid ranger combat style talents, since it is hard to use them and keep that beautiful dwarf-y love of heavy armor (although having mithral armor to get down to medium seems appropriate for dwarves as well with their smithing abilities).

I kinda missed the part about faking your death and never telling your family/friends. Probably not as Paladin friendly as I thought.

Another option is an Inquisitor. They get bane against whoever they want and Monster Lore for figuring out the weirdo abilities and weaknesses of Aberrations. Use that Dwarf Wisdom and ignore the Dwarf Charisma with Conversion Inquisition.

Its not a secret, it is a huge public celebration. Where you are led out of prison(or where ever you are staying after losing your honor), greeted as a hero and given a hero funeral. All of your crime are absolved and you dedicate your body and faith to The Stone(their Godish thing). Your friends and family are elevated in status and you go from the worst scum of the dwarven world to being a Paragon of the Race. You take your worst and best traits and use them to defend your ancestral home.

I am liking the Paladin Idea since you go from being a criminal to being a lawful defender, but I also like the slayer because at the end of the day most of them are just criminals and violent thugs putting their skills to noble use. I have a lot to think about so far, thanks a lot.

The Legion of the Dead is my favorite take on a dwarf in all of fantasy, I am very eager to play this out

Ranger with aberrations as favored enemy, and underground as favored terrain would work well
