Spiritual Ally - Please Confirm my Understanding

Fireballs, electric attacks, magic swords and charm spells all cannot effect a spiritual ally is that correct?

If someone attempts to grapple or trap a spiritual ally that has no effect, correct?

What are some clever ways to use Spiritual Allies vs my party?

Correct on all counts.

"Clever" uses include combining this spells with select hazards like water, ice, quicksand and pretty much anything that will bother your players.

Spells like Black tentacles, grease and similar effects work quite well too, and of course using it as a versatile flanking buddy for invisible rogues is always fun.

Your understanding is correct.

Largely I've seen them used to provide flanking for Roguish characters.
