The magus and the dip level, is it a bad idea?

Advice

so i am currently playing an Eldritch Scion magus (i am using destined bloodline, so i dont really need to ever use the crappy mystic focus) and am currently in a bit of a pickle, i have a pretty good set of armor for level 1 but because of my crappy Dex (11) i have a rather low AC of 14, as a melee character this is bad but so far it has been offset by my reach weapon being able to stabbity stab anything that comes close to death before i get hit, however as we just hit level 2 i am struck with a dilemma, i could take a level of Lore Oracle and fix that bby taking Sidestep Secret however i am unsure if that is a good idea, it will delay my damage progression a bit as i will have to reach level 3 before i can spellstrike and i am unable to spell combat because of the fact i am using a reach weapon. So it would delay me to level 3 before i can start smacking stuff with magic spellstrikes, however it would get me my Cha mod to both AC and Reflex, so i am well and truly stumped here, so i ask your advice paizo forums, Yay or Nay?

Use the shield spell? It's not worth losing a level for something that will be fixed when you can have better armor and items. Especially when the dip involves a class that gives you a curse.

I already have several potions of Shield ready to quaff, but i am unsure of how to pump my AC in a more permanent manner, if you have suggestions i would greatly appreciate it

Edit: I forgot to mention, incase it matters we are playing jade regent,

Jade Regent Spoilers:
we decided to go down the Witches Way in the swamp first after we met with the warden and saved him from the faceless stalker, we fought was apparently a later encounter and handily dealt with the rats while our wizard gathered several thousands of gold in loot before getting pulled out by a summon from the summoner, i was given the cloak of resistance and we returned to town to restock, next we are going to assault the goblin camp, other things of note is that my GM let me take the original Heirloom Weapon and that combined with my high str and such leaves me handily abble to smack nearly anything i try to (+7 normally, +8 with destined strike, though now those are 8 and 9 with my new +1 BAB)

Having a low AC is something a Strength magus has to deal with until he can get better armor and items. Being a reach weapon wielder gives you an edge. Rely on your spells for defense and escaping bad situations.

Liberty's Edge

AC isn't really much of an issue when you have access to Mirror Image, Blur, Displacement, etc. Look at picking up Blade Lash and keep your opponent prone, or pick up Flamboyant Arcana at 3rd and use Opportune Parry/Riposte and Dodging Deed to avoid melee attacks altogether. I did a Swashbuckler dip on my Magus and once I got Combat Reflexes (or Line in the Sand for a low DEX build) my AC became a non factor for melee.

There's not such thing as potions of shield, as shield is a personal-range spell and personal-range spells cannot be made into potions. Potions of mage armor are totally fine though.
