I have made a Druid who has taken a Domain instead of a animal companion. I choose Weather because as a kid he saw the power and destructive force of a storm at close range when he was a child. So im thinking that the Storm Druid Archetype will be a good fit for him but I am not sure if I understand one of the abilities or not.
One of the abilities of a Storm Lord is to be able to spontaneously cast his domain spells. it says
"A storm druid can channel stored spell energy into domain spells that she has not prepared ahead of time. She can “lose” a prepared spell in order to cast any domain spell of the same level or lower. This replaces spontaneous casting."
Another one of the benefits of Storm Druid is that at 9th level I can choose another domain from its list of domains.
Now if I understand this correctly right now at level 3 I can only prepare my domain spells from my one domain which takes up all of my domain spells. And it says that it has to be a spell not memorized ahead of time. Which means I cant really spontaneous cast my domain spells until I get a second domain which is at 9th level. Am I understanding this correctly.
It sounds cool to be able to spontaneously cast spells but it seems a long time to wait to reap the benefit of this one ability. I do like the other benefits.
My only other thought is that it works like normal spontaneous casting and it just takes a spell slot from my spell list of the appropriate level.
Sorry if I am over thinking it but I just want to be sure.
