Follower as carriage driver in PFS?

So I am in the process of acquiring a carriage and pack animals, as it is unbefitting a lady to do her own travelling if it can be avoided. Of course, there is little use in having a carriage and then having to drive and maintain it myself. Would any of the prestige followers be able to drive a carriage? While the wrong flavor, the Squire follower looks close, but I'm not sure taking care of one animal can be extended to driving a vehicle driven by a pair of them. I would imagine it might complicate encounters as well - an ambush encounter is very different against a vehicle than a band of walking adventurers, not to mention followers aren't supposed to affect combat.

If there is a way for this to work - I live in Absolom, so I should be able to use it to travel the island with little difficulty, but many Pathfinder missions are across the Inner Sea. Would I be able to bring the carriage and animals with me by boat, and if so, would I need to pay for the shipping or would the Society cover this as part of our fare?

I have a feeling that your carriage may be most useful for transporting yourself around between adventures. You are basicly asking for huge amounts of table variation from GMs on how things will function if you use one during the scenarios where you can ride around in it.

Don't let this discourage you though, I think it's a cool idea and, personally, would love it if something like this popped up at my table, but some GMs may not want to deal with it. Just remember that even the GMs that embrace it will likely run it differently from one another and you may end up having the occasional encounter where it could be a real disadvantage to you.

Hmm, is it legal to purchase a gryphon in PFS? Having the thing pulling the cart be smart enough to follow orders instead of needing a driver would simplify matters. And more efficiently show off the vast wealth necessary to acquire a pair of them to all the little people. Of course, the requirement for vast wealth makes that more of a long term plan :)

I suppose before the session I can tell the GM about it and ask if/how they want to deal with it. If it would get in the way too much in a given scenario I can leave it at the inn for the day.

No Idea about the gryphon (would be super cool, but I'm guessing not legal or why wouldn't everyone be rideing around on one already)

It probably won't affect the game in over half of the scenarios out there. I think if you talk to the GM before each game and ask them about how they want to run it, most will do their best to accomodate you if it can come into play.

Proooobably because they cost 8500gp trained. Like I said, flaunting wealth - "I paid more for this animal than your little commoner self will earn in your life just so I can look fancy while not walking" :) Due to the cost it wouldn't even really be possible until Seeker levels without horribly gimping yourself, and it's still a pretty extravagant luxury then. But oh so appropriate for this character.

When not in Absalom, it might be possible to purchase/rent a carriage with driver (yeah, sorry, I didn't mean slave) and be able to travel around that way. It would work best in a city, but could work for overland. Asking the GM to tailor encounters for the carriage might be an issue for some, so perhaps exit the carriage at the GM's suggestion?

As a sorcerer, when you get to higher level, I suspect flying/teleporting might become normal travel modes for you. (I know my sorceress used those methods starting at 10th level.)

You could use things like a palanquin, or carriage, but just keep them off-screen so as not to interfere with scenarios. Or, if a GM loves the idea, play it up!

I also have a character who owns a carriage (simply because it's much less work than walking when covering large distances). I bought a squire to act as the driver, because the squire's rules text is he takes care of your animals.

Because a carriage is a large vehicle, you won't always be able to take it along, so in most cases during a scenario, you use the carriage to get to wherever you need to be, park the carriage, and play through the scenario as intended.
