Madu Proficient

Rules Questions

What feat do i need to take to become Proficient with the Madu?

Does Shield Proficiency? Give it to me? Or do i have to Take Exotic Proficiency Madu? (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/armor/madu)

Brawlers automatically gain proficiency w/ the Madu, as it's one of the weapons in the Fighter close weapon group.

I didnt even mention the Brawler ... And the Shield Champion (Which i am Looking at) dosnt get Shield Proficiency. It Specifically Mentions Heavy,Light, and Bucklers.

So i have to take the feat to qualify for other shield feats (Waste of a Feat from poor Design).

So my Question is if I Take Shield Proficiency do i become proficient with the Madu (As it requires for Use).

Also would this trait enable me to use the Madu?

Madu requires exotic weapon proficency (madu) or proficency in the close weapon group from brawler. If you are not proficent in the madu, you treat it as a spiked light shield, which requires martial weapon proficency or the shield trained trait and simple weapon proficency.

Thank you, now i can check those requirements off and proceed with my build.

ooh 1 question, What if i am trained in the Madu but not Light Shields?

What i am thinking is, not making my self Proficient with attacking with a Light Shield ... cuz i am already spending a feat to become proficient attacking with the madu.

Basically Skipping the Trait because i spent a feat anyways to be able to use the shield as a weapon.
