On downed caster and summon, help please.

Rules Questions

What happens to a summoned monster when its caster has been taken down?

Same goes with a druid's animal companion; does it need the druid's directions to attack new targets or will it remain passive if none are adjacent?

Grand Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Summoned Monsters continue to fight the summoner's enemies to the best of their abilities, unless they were given an order to do otherwise before the summoner went down.

As for the companion, it depends on its training and temperament. It might continue to follow its last orders, or it might move to defend the downed druid, or it might even try to get the druid out of danger.

Sovereign Court

I allow the animal companion's player to make the decisions just as if that animal companion were a cohort, but I overrule on things it wouldn't do (I.E. attack undead when it doesn't have the proper trick and the master isn't conscious to push it)

If any character with an animal companion hasn't spent a trick on 'attack any target' they deserve to be dead.
