Charmander was my first. Bulbasaur my second. Squirtle my third. Charizard is still my love. :)

I prefer all three, however, which was one of the reasons I absolutely adored the ability to breed pokemon in Fire Red & Leaf Green. ^-^

Oh... well... you're in for trip. I thought about slipping in some clever reference to the events of volume 3, but us gamers are shrewd enough to immediately pick up on things like that and spoil the fun.

Not sure. I think I'm too drunk on excitement for more to really think heavily on where it's going, aside from a few things that are probably common expectancies among the fanbase (like the apparent identity of the big bad at the end of volume 3).

All I know is it's about time they throw Jaune all the bones. Not just a bone. All of them.

Dumb idea sparked by Pokemon: Pathfinder Go app.

You and others walk around with as PCs. You will randomly come across encounters that will be generated based off the number of people in the encounter area. Have quests giver NPCs spawn around town that send you to different locations to solve quests. Fight monsters, save princes, slay dragons.

That's be pretty cool actually, if it was done well. :)

Well, I've played one moemon hack, which is pretty interesting. Several of them look better than pokemon.

I've recently started Dark Rising, I like it better than the official games, so far anyway. Weather effects while you are walking affect battles, deeper dialog (though you don't get dialog choices, they usually feel more natural with two way conversations between your character amd the npc.), and other minor things. I also like starting with a dratini, my second favorite pokemon.

Oh, as another bonus, it is on my phone. Note, on a phone, there is no limit on saves, though you do have to move them manually so only one is in the folder at a time.

This was an idea of mine for computer glasses that would oberlay images on top of what you were seeing, but that was before any real ones were publicly announced (I still think my design is better since you don't need to focus on the glasses themselves.).

Just as long as I can pick a drow. :)

I haven't read Drowtales. I've heard about it. I know it's been in existence for a super-long time. I just haven't ever looked into it much. I probably should, given the subject material.

Who what? Why am I Kiel'ndia? Does this make me hot? Cause I assure you, no one has made the mistake of calling me that before. Is she is a princess? Would that make me a princess? Being a princess might be fun. I'd probably be a terrible princess though. I read too much erotic fiction. Most unbecoming of a noble lady such as my possible self.

Kiel is a kickbutt noble, and talks about slaying dragons and rescuing princlings. She is also crazy and talks to things that aren't actually there. She is often shipped with a particular female character.

Tels wrote:

Definitely something I'd do. One of my chars in a different game was a war healer from a nation at war with a necromantic tyranny. Real star chamber, inquisitorial nation with a fake deity invented just so they could maintain further control and abuse a certain class of caster. So the nation char is from has very strong feelings on the matter of necromancy due to it.

So character is trying to heal people, being a medic mage, and she finds out the enemy is fielding walking corpses. She;s been frustrated lately because it's one thing to know that metal pieces cutting parts inside is bad, but if you can't see how everything works while it is working, some things are hard to treat. And she's no sadist so she isn't going to cut someone open while they are alive and look about. So she joins the war front to maybe get a chance to see these corpse men in action as a healer.

Course, that's not the safest idea and while she;s trying to heal people, enemy warmages drop a firebomb on her medic tent and collapse it half on her, frying her legs. So she has to use what she;s seen of the undead so far to reanimate her own legs and such. She ended up learning necromancy from defected enemies, and they forced the enemy back, but there was tons of bias against them from their own side.

So she bailed and went full on hermit, animating zombies and using her skill to keep them incredibly life like so she can make their anatomy still work and study it and use that to help others with surgery and such. She has to really force herself to use cauterization though. She doesn't even like lighting a fireplace anymore. Heavy fire phobia.

I haven't seen her play anything in... Well... Ever. At most, she provides commentary... Not particularly interesting or entertaining commentary, though.

Admittedly, I never paid much attention to her in tournaments, so maybe she's just eliminated early and I don't remember it.

Interesting. Internet says she is a he, and the he is one of the best street fighter players and possibly the best player of the character Viper.

Personally though, I never liked Street Fighter type fighting games, I prefer the Super Smash Bros style of fighting game.

I'm wondering though, what's with all the japanese men looking like women? Especially the ones that are great at something.

** spoiler omitted **

RWBY:
Its funny you mention that, because this is actually one of my concerns.

RWBY has borrowed plot elements from RvB in the past, especially with Pyrrha/Tex. Both are the most skilled fighters in the show and were/in a relationship with the main male protagonist. Both are doomed to fail in there goals: Tex by virtue of her origin, and Pyrrha by virtue of her inspiration.

One thing I'm concerned about, is they may resurrect Pyrrha through other means in the show. For example, they may have Pyrrha resurrected through magic, or a plot twist with Pyrrha never a actually dying, merely appearing to do so for Ruby's sake. We know Cinder and crew have used illusions to do similar things in the past, it's not impossible they planned this event to trigger Ruby's power. If they knew about magic, then they likely knew about the 'silver-eyed warrior' bit as well. Plus, as Cinder said, "Its not about overpowering the enemy, it's about taking away what power they have."

This would be similar to THE Church/Epsilon plot of RvB, which, again, has influenced RWBY. RWBY is said to be a 'darker' story than RvB, so I hope the influences are only minor. Much as I love Pyrrha, RWBY will likely lose most, if not any, claim of being a darker fantasy story if Pyrrha is resurrected. But I fear she will be. She is simply way too popular a character for most companies to leave dead, and her story is 'unfinished'.

As much as I want it, I know it won't happen. I'm not getting into an argument about 'should' however. :P

She was born male, but transitioned (or whatever the process is called) to female, IIRC... And that's about all I know about her.

I don't recall ever seeing her go far in major tournaments... But I suppose it's possible I simply wasn't watching the right tournaments.

RWBY:
eh... i expect she'll be back if only because of her "destiny". didn't watch all of rvb so can't comment on borrowed plot elements, but what do you think of all the talk of references to the Wizard of Oz? also, i should really go back and rewatch the whole thing.

So Ashiel,
I recall early in this thread you said your least favorite Paizo class was the Oracle. I think that was before Occult Adventures and Ultimate Intrigue, and maybe before Pathfinder Unchained. Is the oracle still your least favorite Paizo class, or has it been superseded by the Vigilante or one of the OA classes?

Honestly, I haven't even bothered to buy either of those books. Some friends of mine have them though, so I've taken a look at them. Vigilante easily overtakes the oracle as a class I really dislike, both mechanically and also thematically.

EDIT: It's worth noting that overall I like the oracle. I just dislike the amount of forced fluff involved with them. I'd rather see the oracle's curse as an optional part of the class, not something required by all oracles.

Care to elaborate? So many people seem to be infatuated with the class...

I don't particularly care about the class one way or another, but it did improve a lot from its playtest version (which was possibly the worst designed class I've ever seen in Pathfinder).

i like that vigilante allows you to better do a certain type of assassin, but beyond that i was actually not thrilled with the class either. but my distaste is mostly thematic. the vigilante hero seems more appropriate for modern times in places where the rule of law is more... [word fail]. it just seems strange in the kind of world where you wouldn't really be prosecuted for killing a bunch of brigands on the road in the first place. that's my take on it anyway.

From a conceptual standpoint, you don't need a class to play a masked hero. You could always do that, with infinitely more options, with the core rules and a little investment in disguise. More options to support those types of things (such as ways of more readily avoiding "I win" divination questions would be helpful, etc), but from its very conception, I feel the idea of the class was flawed.

Though I don't have the book with me at the moment to reference, many of its class features when I checked it were very underwhelming, or too limited to make use of in any game where you regularly traveled around, or just tried to have you spend a feature for something that was basically fluff.

Having to actively change between your identities to activate your abilities is stupid. It means that you can never have to make that decision to reveal yourself for who you truly are in a moment of dire need because you just can't. It's like forgetting you know kung fu, when in reality you just choose to not demonstrate your kung fu except when in disguise. Except for the vigilante, you really do just forget kung fu.

As with a lot of their features and options are just trash or come with ridiculous level requirements. A few examples yanked off of d20pfsrd.com...

Quote:

In Vogue (Ex): The vigilante's crafting or professional business is always at the height of the local trends, allowing the vigilante to gain more profits than usual. Goods he crafts with a Craft skill he chose with social grace are worth 1/3 more gp than normal due to his celebrity, without increasing the cost to create. Whenever he uses a Profession skill he chose with social grace to make money, he makes twice as much money. A vigilante must be at least 5th level and have both the double time and social grace social talents to take this talent.

Celebrity Perks (Ex): The vigilante is a celebrity in his area of renown, and adoring fans are all too eager to shower him with the fundamental necessities. While within his area of renown, he can always receive common meals or lodging (worth up to 1 gp per meal or night) for free, and can avoid paying taxes or bribes of 1 gp or less. If he wants a particular non-magical item worth 1 gp or less, he can spend 1d10 minutes interacting with people in his area of renown to receive the item from a fan (if he ever sells such a gift from a fan, he loses this social talent permanently). If he has the great renown social talent, he can receive gifts of up to 5 gp, receive fine food and lodgings (worth up to 10 gp per meal or night) for free, and avoid paying taxes or bribes of 10 gp or less. If he has incredible renown, he can receive gifts of up to 25 gp, receive exquisite food and lodgings (worth up to 100 gp per meal or night) for free, and avoid paying taxes or bribes of 100 gp or less. A vigilante must be at least 5th level and have the renown social talent to select this talent.

Some of the archetypes are worse (Aratrok showed me one that might as well be called "be spiderman" except to really get into that you gotta be like 17th level to swing from stuff).

Vigilante's just don't really do a lot of what they seem to suggest, don't have much of a real place, and aren't as good at doing things like the Avengers as they are doing stuff like this.

If the vigilante uses any of these talents while in his social identity, he must succeed at a Disguise check against the Perception checks of all onlookers (without the +20 circumstance bonus from seamless guise) or the onlookers will realize that he is more than his social identity appears to be and perhaps discover the social and vigilante identities are one and the same.

He can do that part. Honestly I just wish some of these abilities were stuff any class could do.

You should look closer at the avenger talents, Ash. I literally have hard choices to make as Falandar levels up.

As for the dual personas, I plan to just stay in social guise and use everything he has anyway. Not even bother with Disguise. If I know we're going to a fight, I'll put on the warpaint and shift alignments to CN just so he's less effected by evil spells.
